I DVRed it but plans changed, so I got to see most of the race in real time.

11. Agreed, I was struck by that all day

The finish could not have been more dramatic or unlikely but the coverage didn't warrant it. Decades ago there was fantastic build up to the conclusion, and announcer presence. Today I was wondering if they'd depart to a split screen commercial during the final lap.

I've watched two races this year. Both times the leader with a lap remaining didn't get there. The other one was a Nascar Nationwide race in Las Vegas in March. I attended that one. Leader blew a tire midway through the final lap.

7. How do you post a reaction to THAT!

When I left my Mom's house the race was on and E.J. Viso had just crashed.
I drove from like Tarpon Springs to Orlando and avoided all radio listening to a Bartcop Radio CD.
I had the race DVR'd from start to finish.
Even got to hear Jim Nabors sing.

When I got home I did the customary "don't tell me who won the race and by the way I'm home" call.
"I won't, she said BUT you'll be shocked"
This woman is 79 years old and watches the Oprah network 24x7.
So to get her to watch a full race is saying something.

So when Danica took the lead, I said you got to be shitting me.
Then when she pitted, and the rookie was leading I realized, that's kind of a shocker.
So, I called her with two laps left.
And she heard me watch the last lap.

I may have to drive back down there to make sure she's OK.

What a freaking race!
