And Wings force a seventh game!
Wow, what a great game tonight. Joe Louis was ROCKING. Haven't seen it like that in a long time. Go Wings! Back from 0-3 to tie the series!

1. Sharks looked rattled at the end.
Detroit is in their head right now. They need to get focused, and quickly, or they'll pull a Bruins and blow this.

3. This has been the best series of the second round by far.

It'll be amazing if Detroit pulls it off (I'm rooting for the Sharks though...I like Detroit but they always win). To see a comeback like that twice in two years after none in what, 40 odd years? Pretty amazing stuff. To even put themselves in this position is a major feat. It's not like they're playing Edmonton here. The Sharks are a very good team.

4. Actually, Detroit doesn't "always win".
They've won four Cups since 1997. Prior to that, they had a 41-year drought!

They've been successful, no one would disagree, but they don't always win.

GO WINGS! Couldn't believe the game last night. We were pacing around and around the kitchen, in our lucky spot.

5. Eh, close enough.
Outside of NJ is there any team in that stretch that has won even 2 Cups? 4 Cups in 14 years is pretty much dominance in the NHL of today, and even the years they didn't win the Cup they won damn near everything else. I just want to see a different team get it. Nothing personal against Detroit. :)

6. If you go back just a little further the list grows
Since the Oilers' last cup Detroit has 4, New Jersey and Pittsburgh won 3, and the Avs won 2.

Still, there's no doubt Detroit has been pretty dominant since the mid-'90s, and if I didn't grow up in Detroit watching the '70s version of the Red Wings define mediocrity I'd probably root against them too (the way I root against the Yankees).

7. Well, I don't want to compare them to the Yankees.
They win a lot, but they're not evil. :)

8. No, they are not, and thanks!
They get a lot of their players in the draft, and don't just go buying out contracts so other teams can't get players.

I also liked how they picked up locals Derrien Hatcher and Mike Modano for an extra end-of-career contract.

I do love my team.

12. They do things the right way.
I don't know how classy they were back in the days of Ted Lindsey, mind you, but in my lifetime they've been a classy, well run team worthy of respect. The way they've treated Konstantinov is absolutely top notch, from the night the let him carry the Cup in his wheelchair (yeah, the tears flowed a bit on that one), to keeping his locker setup to this day. Even Brett Hull changed his number to 17 when he came to Detroit, continuing that respect.

I'm still rooting for the Sharks though. :)

However, a Bruins/Wings Original Six matchup would be sweet.

10. The annual Sharks chokefest is in full swing.
It seems like every single year these guys manage to choke it up in the playoffs. You know it's in their heads now and it's looming large. It's sad because this team really has had the talent to win multiple cups over the past decade or so but they can never close the deal. Will this be the year they finally get over that hump or will they wither under the pressure? Should be a great game tomorrow.
