Kentucky Derby notes: Uncle Mo decision to come Friday morning
Weather forecast is 72 with scattered pm storms. We'll see. This Derby is way up in the air. If you can handicap this race and win you are my hero or you are real lucky. I am going with Uncle Mo, if he starts, as he has recovered from the sickness he had at the Woods. At PP # 18 he has some work.
LOUISVILLE — It has become Thoroughbred racing's version of "The Decision."
The drama over whether juvenile champion Uncle Mo will start in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday is expected to reach a conclusion Friday morning, according to owner Mike Repole.

2. question.....where can I find the tv times for the derby??
ESPN usually carries a few hours before NBC takes over, but I can't get the actual times??? Thanks....and I'm rooting for the girls....the trainer's Mucho Macho Man, the jockey: Pants on Fire, and the horse from Ireland Master of Hounds. So I'm covered....and are there any grays this year???

5. No big surprise here.

Repole said a couple of days ago that he and Pletcher would consult with Mo's team of three doctors and make a decision.
My husband and I train horses and believe me, if a horse needs three vets, he is not going to be in the KY Derby, the most
difficult race in a horse's life to this point.

7. Some of the comments made about this decision on FB are a hoot...
Did you catch this one?
"I believe the Pletcher administration photo-shopped Uncle Mo's juvenile campaign, to make it appear that he was undefeated. You know, I just can't bring myself to trust this colt. Not only is he dark brown, but he's clearly a socialist, who... backed out of the Derby in order to share the wealth with the equine plebes. And mamby pamby, as well. Waffling back and forth, can't make a decision to save his life. I'm gonna run. No I'm not. Yes I am. No, I changed my mind. :)"
If I hadn't known better I would have thought this was you...

10. Not a surprise at all
When Pletcher said Uncle Mo needed 19 perfect days at Churchill to make the gate, you could tell how fragile the situation was. I made two prop bets against him yesterday, based on health not ability.

Darn shame. This horse looked extra special last year. The Derby loses plenty of grab, from my perspective. And there's zero chance he'll run at Pimlico or Belmont. We're looking at a long evaluation then (hopefully) improved health and a modest 6 or 7 furlong return in late summer or early fall.

12. He has been sent to Win Star farm in KY to recover.

We will never see him again. He will be retired to stud soon.

Pretty much the same scenario as War Pass a few years ago.
Champion two year old, didn't pan out at three, then off to stud.
They sent WP to Australia to stand there for the Southern Hemisphere season
and died as soon as he got off the plane back here in the states.
