A sports cocktail recipe for the Yankees here for Derby Day.

I don't drink anymore but I know one hell of a lot about it , so feel free to use my mixing directions for making a mint julep Kentucky style.

Gather some fresh mint, get it from the patch under your outdoor faucet, that's the best
Put some ice cubes in a clean kitchen towel and crush it with the back of your skillet.
Put 5 or 6 mint sprigs in cup and mull them around
Mix, toss with the mint and put in Sterling silver julep cup with a little simple syrup
Wait for the cup to frost
Pour 2 jiggers of good bourbon in a small rocks glass.
Throw that mint shit on the ground
Drink the bourbon neat.

1. Saw three darby's in the early 80's, era. From the infield, of course.
Brought in a garbage can filled with ice and crabs for our dining pleasure. And at the bottom of that large rubbish container was a keg. I would be willing to bet the infield isn't as crazy as it was 30 years ago.

2. My last in '77 and I was too old for the infield then @ 23.
In the olden days I liked to party hard, and I mean hard, but the rookie drunks in the infield can be annoying. I do recommend everybody go one time. I don't think you can sneak anything in now, they have several dumpsters of confiscated liquor and other contraband. They have the National Guard out as well as a reaction force to do any quelling that may be needed. Probably from the drunken legacy we left.
