hmm, BYU lost one of their best guys to a suspension
that's not good. Wonder what he did after that game where they beat San Diego State...

I'm just hearing on ESPN that it was sex....consensual sex with his girlfriend. (wonder if that's true.) :wtf: I thought Mormon teams were ok with that, if not caffeine, alcohol, etc.

Maybe the guys on the team aren't allowed to have sex, period!

I'll have to look up the BYU honor code.

3. I highly doubt he's the only athlete at BYU
ever to have consensual sex with his girlfriend. He just had to be the one to get caught/tell on himself. Mormons are fucked up; they aren't even allowed to drink tea according to the BYU "honor code".

4. The enforcement of the honor code depends on whether you're a member or not
When Jim McMahon went to BYU, it was not uncommon for him to be dragged/carried to his room completely plastered. But, McMahon is/was Catholic. So the code was not enforced on him.
If the player involved is a member of the LDS Church then he is expected to follow the honor code because the honor code is set up around the teachings of the LDS Church -- which means he violated the rules of his religion.

13. that's all Mormons, but I think the code applies to anyone
who attends BYU. Attending there as an athlete comes with a price...

7. According to the now-locked GD thread...he had sex with his girlfriend...
ok, he knew the rules.

on the other hand, these are stupid rules.

on a third hand, at least they're not treating him any different since he's an athlete.

11. Why won't the NCAA protect the players?
A recent article said that the upcoming NCAA tournament won't have any real stars but BYU could go all the way (Not with their "honor" code!) The article noted that the stars had all gone to the NBA.

GEE! I wonder why? Perhaps the elite players don't want to be exploited by the fat cats of the NCAA where you get the additional bonus of being denied your human rights!

Yes, BYU can do whatever they want, but why should the NCAA condone this ridiculous situation? BYU has no business in any NCAA event as long as they deny their players the human right to have sex. In the past, the NCAA has gone after players and schools for accepting money but so far no penalties for screwing this player. Will they now stand up to BYU? Probably not because they are like everything else in this country: for the rich and powerful but screw everyone else! Go tell it on the mountain: BYU sucks They got blown (out), at home, by their Mountain West Conference Rivals: the New Mexico Lobos.

17. I think you could argue that any players have their own
college codes of conduct that should be honored - BYUs probably aren't much worse than Oral Roberts or any of the RW Christian unis, are they?

 I think the NCAA stays clear of that kind of thing (not sure, though) because to take on issues like those would create a messy maelstrom, eh?

going all the way seems to be the problem here! sorry, I had to go there...
