Carson Palmer: "I have $80M in the bank and will never set foot in Paul Brown Stadium again."
ESPN.com news services / March 1, 2011

(SNIP) ...Palmer, who has demanded the Bengals trade him, told a confidant he "will never set foot in Paul Brown Stadium again," WCPO-TV in Cincinnati reported Tuesday.

Bengals owner Mike Brown said in January that he will not trade Palmer because the quarterback is crucial to the team's plans.

Several sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen in January that Palmer will contemplate retirement if the Bengals do not trade him.

According to Tuesday's report, Palmer said "I have $80 million in the bank. I don't have to play football for money. I'll play it for the love of the game but that would have to be elsewhere. I'm prepared to live my life."

I actually find this refreshing -- you know, he's being honest.

What a blow to the Bengals.

2. Other than the fact he pretty much blows, I expect a big demand for him.

Comments from a "confidant" is not what I mean. Articles say he hasn't returned comment so it could be his words.

4. Maybe he'll set foot in Candlestick...
Palmer has been linked to San Francisco because his wife is from the Bay Area and he went to school at USC.

The quarterback has shown how serious he is by putting his Cincinnati home up for sale and threatening to retire if he does not get traded.

Several pundits have linked Palmer to the 49ers, including ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

But the 49ers cannot make a move until NFL owners and its players reach a new collective bargaining agreement, which is expected to expire Wednesday.

5. Possible
I was in the Cincinnati area over the weekend and at least one person I talked to about this believes its his WIFE driving this, not him.

10. Mike Brown is an idiot
Just a quieter version so most don't know how bad an owner he is. And the fact that he's the son of legendary figure Paul Brown (whom the Cleveland Browns are named after) probably is the reason why. But he's a cheapskate and not very intelligent.

8. The timing is ... interesting ...
with the labor negotiations going on ... could Palmer be floating this balloon just to bust up the owners' bloc?

9. He really hasn't been the same since the knee injury in the playoffs a few years ago
That being said, if he wound up with the 49'ers he would still be miles ahead of what they have at QB.
