Apply for the ultimate "dream job:" watching Major League Baseball...
But there's a catch:

You have to watch non-stop... every game... and in a city of MLB's choosing. Major League Baseball is looking for someone who will "eat, sleep and live baseball for an entire season." The lucky(?) winner will be charged with "watching every game of the 2011 season and blogging about their thoughts and opinions" and be available for media events and other appearances.

Apply at the link (this is real): http://mlb.mlb.com/dreamjob/index.jsp

All 4860 games plus post-season?

Better than being jobless.

3. I'd do it.
I'd need to sleep on occasion.

I don't think MLB would want me considering my blog would consist of nothing but the Skankmees suck and Hank is a douche.

4. That's their idea of a "dream" job?
It sounds like dreaming is the LAST thing you'll have the opportunity to do!

5. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I could be sitting in downtown Detroit watching an Orioles-Royals rain delay with the #5 starters on the mound and still have a smile on my face.

7. What does it pay?
This has got to be a joke. Nowhere does it say what the salary is. They'd have to pay me at least $500K to not make any bad comments about the commissioner and owners.

8. Is it possible to do that within the season?
There's like 16 games a night, 3 hours a game. I'm sure they can cut the commercials, but it's still 2+ hours per game. At 2 hours per game it's 32 hours in a day. I guess it would be just highlights, but even that is too much work for one person.

9. Several games are played at the same time...
Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 12:19 PM by Auggie
so sure, you can do it all in one day. But imagine trying to follow five games at the same time. You don't have the benefit of listening to commentary on all of them either. If you're based in the east you'll be staying up past midnight to follow games on west coast and then need an hour or so to blog about the entire day. That's a lot of work.

10. Easily an hour.

Watching them all at the same time could work, but blog posts will be a mediocre overview of all games. I can get that on DU. I don't get if they want cheap labor or if they really think it's a cool idea.

11. I would apply but I'm not a baseball expert
Also, you've all seen my posts. I probably don't have strong writing skills either.

14. I see that - fan's perspective.
but the NFL would probably be more of my thing. Maybe the NBA. I don't feel I know much about baseball outside the Rockies. I'm familiar with the Giants for some reason but I don't even know what is going on with the Diamondbacks other than they lost that power home run hitter Reynolds to Baltimore and they got Justin Upton(I think). They also signed that perfect game that wasn't pitcher, Galarraga I think. I live here so this is what I pick up when I hear. That is all I was saying when I said I'm not an expert, just saying I'm actually far from it. :)

15. Sounds like they're looking for a live blogger to work sucker free.
Instead of hiring (and paying a salary to) an actual sports reporter.

:hi: Bud!
