Feds plan to show Bonds mistreated wife, others
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Federal prosecutors urged a judge Tuesday to let them show the jury in Barry Bonds' perjury trial a trove of evidence alleging the slugger mistreated his wife, girlfriends and other people around him.

A court filing submitted by prosecutors included grand jury transcripts and interviews investigators conducted with several witnesses that they plan to call during the trial scheduled to start March 21.

The witnesses include Bonds' former mistress, Kimberly Bell, his personal doctor and a childhood friend who served as his assistant and personal shopper during his playing days.

All three have told investigators that Bonds mistreated his domestic help and his personal trainer Greg Anderson, who is refusing to testify at the former Giant's trial.

There is a reason for the phrase "roid rage".

1. And this is relevant to a steroids/perjury trial how, exactly?

Lots of people, including famous athletes (*cough*OJ*cough*) are abusive without being on 'roids.

Not defending Barroid; I just hate to see anyone get railroaded.

2. My thoughts exactly.
My guess is that they're going to try to explain this as "Roid Rage" but I'll bet Bonds was a douchebag long before he touched the stuff.

Not to defend him, but he's not on trial for being an a-hole.

3. Read the last paragraph, it points to the direction you are going...
"Bonds' lawyers own expert counters that those symptoms can be attributed to other causes and that the science of steroid use is still unsettled."

Yeap. His lawyers are going to use the "my client is an asshole" defense!!

5. Should it read, "Feds ASKED to show Bonds mistreated wife, others?"
"The judge will rule on the evidence later.

6. And that pertains to the matter of whether or not he lied to the grand jury how?

7. They can't prove he lied unless they prove he took steroids,
and his trainer still won't talk. They actually might only use some of the evidence listed in this article depending on how the trial plays out, but they have to reveal everything now if there is any chance they might use it at trial.

8. Exactly my point, my dear Redbear
The closest I can come to any relevancy to Bonds' "mistreatment" of his wife is that it is roid rage. However, a lot of people have short fuses without taking steroids. In order to show that Bonds' behavior in this matter is related to steroid use, the prosecution would first have to prove he used steroids.
