2. As much as this makes me gag
the Packers are a better team than the Steelers. (I'm a Viking fan living 45 miles south of Packer holy land).

3. Steelers
Edited on Sun Jan-16-11 08:08 PM by JonLP24
run and pass defense is better. The Jets have a better pass defense and run defense than the Packers as well. The Packers have a better QB than both teams (this season) but Roethlisberger is not far behind. Sanchez is much further. Both teams run the ball better than the Packers. Anyways, my .02.

4. Packers' run game sucks.
Absolutely, but they have been addressing that in the past several weeks. I don't know the rankings, but I would not want to face the Packers' pass defense. Matthews is a frickin' beast. Woodson is playing out of his mind. I hope the Bears go to Forte very often.

5. Aaron Rodgers is not better than Big Ben and probably not better than Sanchez
I'm not even going to break out stats because being a good/great QB is about more than stats. Rodgers has had 2 good playoff games, Big Ben has a Superbowl ring and has his team in Superbowl contention every year. I wouldn't be to quick to put Rodgers ahead of Sanchez considering Sanchez has beat the Pats & NE on the road in back to back playoff games. If Sanchez wins next week that's three Superbowl teams in the playoffs on the road

6. I wouldn't put Rodgers ahead of Ben
career wise. I think Big Ben is very close to an 8 YPA for his career which is very impressive.

Aaron Rodgers this season though is great, 8.26 YPA. Roethlisberger is right behind him at 8.23 so they are pretty much even. Sanchez was a very low 6.49.

I will concede the argument when it comes to "Big Ben" but not Sanchez. Just because he was won playoff games doesn't put him in a category above. The Jets run the ball very well and play great defense, this is the primary reason why I think they win games.

I also think Rodgers has had 3 good playoff games. Last season against Arizona in the Wild Card round. He had a very terrific game, but unfortunately the defense gave up a boatload of yards and points. No way that loss was on him.

7. It doesn't matter where they stand career-wise
It's where they are right now. Rodgers has been playing lights out the last few games.

12. Sanchez just beat 2 HOF quaterbacks on the road
He just beat two teams that have won the superbowl, on the road. He just beat two of the best QB's in this era, on the road. He's going to his second AFC championship in a row and he's only in his 2nd year. Don't give me stats show me what Rodgers has done to top that.

13. By your logic, Trent Dilfer is better than both of them cuz he won a super bowl.
Idiotic

14. No that's not and i knew you would bring Dilfer into the equation
You can't compare Dilfer who was serviceable at best to Sanchez who is LEADING his team to victories. Jamal Lewis almost ran for as many yards as Dilfer threw for that year and Dilfer only threw for one more TD than INT. Sanchez threw for 3 TD's against NE in NE in a playoff game and led his team down the field during a crucial moment in the game when NE had just scored and was only down 3pts and had the crowd back in it.

I never said it was all about super bowls. We're comparing two players who have never won super bowls but if you compare their career Sanchez is the more impressive QB. This year Sanchez has beat HOF QB's whose teams have won the super bowl and he did it on the road. Next week he has to do it again. If Sanchez makes it to the super bowl he would have had to defeat 3 super bowl teams, 2 HOF QB's and a possible HOF QB, all on the road in the playoffs.

17. Does Sanchez go out there and play defense? NO, then he didnt beat hall of fame QBs like you said.
Sanchez has gotten exactly as far as Rodgers has this year, and dont even try to say that, "Oh well Sanchez got to the championship last year," because i know you hate stats, but Sanchez threw a shit ton of picks last year for a team that did not deserve to even make the playoffs (due to Indy playing nobody in their final game).

21. So because Sanchez doesn't play defense he didn't win?
Now you're getting ridiculous. In his 6th season Rodgers has accomplished what Sanchez has in his first 2 season and against much better teams. When you think of Sanchez, from college to the pros, you think of winner

23. Eli Manning "beat" the Cowgirls, Pack, and 18-0 Pats
with Romo, Favre, when he was still HOF Favre and Brady, coming of the greatest regular season in the history of the UNIVERSE with 3 SB's on his resume.

All on the road. Well the Bowl was on a neutral field.

So by your argument that made Eli (at the time) What? The greatest QB ever to wear Pads?

Nope. He's still just Eli. This coming from a lifetime fan of the G-Men.

20. Well you're half right
The Super Bowl is next week but it's the Packers/Bears. The oldest and the best rivalry in the NFL, the two teams with the most NFL titles finally meet for the NFC Championship.
GO PACK GO!

10. Green Bay and Pittsburgh
The most vital stat in pro football is Yards Per Pass Attempt Differential, i.e Offensive Yards Per Pass Attempt minus Defensive Yards Per Pass Attempt.

Among this year's playoff teams, only Green Bay and Pittsburgh were very good in that category, +1.9 for Green Bay and +1.7 for Pittsburgh. San Diego actually led the league at +2.7. No one else was above +1.0.

Overall it was the worst batch of numbers I've ever seen in that category, a flawed pathetic league. Once San Diego and the (+1.0) Giants were knocked out, the legit Super Bowl contenders were limited. Matt Ryan was a joke as a #1 seed, with his mediocre YPPA and ridiculously low YPPC, equating to an overall -.2 bottom line for the Falcons. No Dolphins fan should be annoyed at bypassing Ryan. He's not #1 pick caliber and never will be, with that pop gun arm. I've taken plenty of grief on football forums all season, and last year, for denouncing Ryan but yesterday provided plenty of verification. More and more opponents will take away Ryan's underneath junk. Stick Ryan on a team without a terrific home field advantage and rugged running game and he's a terrorized mediocrity. I still can't believe a -.2 team was favored over +1.9 yesterday.

Otherwise, New England was extremely vulnerable at only +.9, the least impressive 14-2 "monster" team ever. Likewise the Colts at +.7. So the (+.4) Jets are moving up in class next week, contrary to conventional wisdom. And the Bears have had the easiest road to the title game ever, one playoff game hosting -.9 Seattle.

19. Bears!
Have been quietly overcoming the "surely they aren't for real" moniker most of the season. They probably like it still being there. I think the problem is that other than Devin Hester, there's little individual flash on the team, but it just seems to come together "just enough".

At least, that's MY hope :)
