Poll question: Would you have run the ball on the 2 point conversion (Rose Bowl)
Edited on Sun Jan-02-11 02:11 AM by Cali_Democrat
I say yes!

Wisky was pounding TCU with the run all game (226 yds rushing) and then they throw the ball on the 2 point conversion? :wtf:

1. It's a tough call.
If the Tank didn't get his hands up, it would have been good. The guy was open, probably because they were looking for the run.

2. You have the best success
when you throw defenses off. The best way I can say this that makes sense is you're better off on 1st & 10 running an equal number of passes and runs, IOW 50/50. If you're running pass on 1st & 10 all the time the defense will expect it. I've seen draw plays work a lot on 3rd & long because the defense is expecting pass all the way.

I know I'm probably not making any sense but I think Wisconsin was trying to throw TCU off with a pass because they ran the ball 46 times in a game.

3. I was actually yelling at the tv "Run the damn ball!"
Wisconsin was moving almost at will on the ground and there's no reason to think they couldn't have gotten into the end zone with a running play.

4. agree....running the d*mn ball has been the bread and butter
of the Badgers...... should have just run it all day. UGH. such bad play calling I thought.

5. You go with what got you there
and that was running the ball up the middle. TCU was unable to consistently stop Wisconsin when they ran between the tackles all day. Yet the Badgers did TCU a favor, not just on the two point conversion attempt, but throughout the game, as they regularly strayed away from their strength. I thought Wisconsin's play calling was poor..

6. Yes, absolutely - especially the way they ran the ball on that final drive
On the other hand the pass play almost worked - the receiver was open, and it was only broken up by a good defensive play. So while I disagree with the call, it wasn't completely stupid...

7. Paul Chryst is the OC
and he's done a heck of a job play calling the few years he's doing it. I'd hate to double guess him.

One day he'll be a head coach somewhere.

8. I would have put Tolzien under Center...not necessarily run the ball.
If you pass it, its play action. That said. Pederson was wide open in the end zone.

9. Exactly, show a base formation
Overall, the strange choice was running down the clock. Down by 7 that was the sensible choice, but not down by 8, too much dependence on a less than 50/50 scenario, making the 2 point conversion. With only 1 time out it was particularly masochistic. It was like Randy Shannon was advising the Badgers.
