CarGo

Chances: 268

Errors: 1

Assists: 8

Fld%: .996

Andres Torres

Chances: 322

Assists: 7

Fld%: .997

Torres was every bit as deserving as Gonzales. I haven't checked the stats of Victorino or Bourn, but I have a feeling he matches up pretty well there as well. Looks to me as if Andres was robbed. I guess he'll just have to be content with a World Championship..

edit: I looked at the stats of Victorino and Bourn and as suspected, they each have lower fielding percentages than Torres. If I wasn't sure Andres was robbed before, I am now..

3. What's interesting is that neither of the teams in the World Series got Gold Gloves.
I am totally against any expansion of the post-season. Five and seven game series are not a measurement of who was the best over 162 games.

4. Fielding percentage isn't the only thing that earns a Gold Glove.

5. Actually
more advanced fielding stats like UZR should be used.Torres excels there as well. In truth, the Gold Gloves are nothing more than a popularity contest. Along with stuff like who swings the bigger bat, who has a consecutive Gold Glove winning streak going and who has made the highlights most often all factor in.

I guess I shouldn't expect much from managers and coaches, but why bother calling the award the Gold Glove, if the best defensive fielder at each position is not going to be honored?
