3. A couple years ago a friend and I took a football and went to the local field.

We tried to kick field goals, to very funny results. My buddy hit one from the 28 yard line, and that was the longest of the day (which is why I played hockey). Other than that, there was more shanks than a prison. Not as easy as it looks.

4. Getting Consistent Trajectory Is WAY Harder Than People Think

I could kick a football solidly and straight when i was a kid. But, kicking it high enough to clear the bar and still getting the distance is pretty darned hard. Hit the ball sweet, but a quarter inch too high and it goes the same distance, but has NO chance of clearing the crossbar.

Kicking is harder than it looks, for sure! That's why they don't have reserve linebackers kick field goals. They use skilled experts who actually can't play any other position for good reason.
