S.F. Giants Buster Posey sets NL rookie mark

MLB.com / 7-11-10

WASHINGTON -- The Elias Sports Bureau confirmed Sunday that Giants catcher Buster Posey's recent 10-game hot streak set a record for National League rookies.

Posey went 4-for-5 Saturday with three RBIs in a 10-5 victory over Washington. That means he's banged out 19 hits -- with six homers -- and knocked in 13 runs during the last 10 games entering Sunday. Elias said that no other National League rookie has ever had that many hits, homers and RBIs during a 10-game stretch.

It's happened a bunch of times in the American League, but Posey now has set the standard for NL rookies. He was batting .351 with seven homers and 23 RBIs since his May 29 callup.

On Sunday, July 11, Posey added another hit, a triple, and two more RBIs to the above totals.

2. He looks like the real thing doesn't he?
Buster finished the road trip 20 for 40 with 6 HR and 15 RBIs. That Molina trade is looking better and better, Chris Ray has been pitching pretty good too.

3. Couldn't have come at a better time
I hope Posey's success can light a fire under Sandoval. Maybe Pablo will start seeing better pitches too. If he and Uribe (sprained finger) can get hot the second half will be really fun.

And Madison Bumgarner -- he's looking more impressive with each outing.
