Reflections of an Orioles fan
The last 7 years since we last made the playoffs have been tough. Names have come and gone, our icon player has been retired for a few years now. I am enjoying this start for sure, this team really seems to be a good one all around, they can beat you with the long ball, beat you the old fashion way as displayed last night, and their fielding percentage is the best in the league. Despite worries about their pitching, they have an ERA of 4.05. Team chemistry seems to be great as well, and the just the whole atmosphere. While watching a game the other day, I heard someone in the fans doing the classic ORIOLES thing that Wild Bill Hagy did in the 70's and 80's during the good years. Daniel Cabrera's big glove too and a Baltimore Sun Columnist who just got on the bandwagon made up a fictional town called Jimmyville, and even neater there seemed to be a couple getting married at the game. They seem to love to play together, and small things like the pitchers discussing things after game. The guy I credit most with the Orioles turn around is Miguel Tejada, Miggy really knows how to make for a great atmosphere in the clubhouse, he's having the total opposite affect that Albert Belle had for us. So its good to be an Orioles fan right now.

1. I agree that Tejada is a sparkplug for the team, both with his...
amazing playing ability, but also for his positive attitude---it does make a difference if a team thinks and acts as a team, rather than a collection of superstars.

3. He's becoming my favorite player
He's such a class act who loves to play the game. I wish we could have gotten a guy like him instead of Belle in the late 90's. Mora has turned out to be a great aquisation as well, he just hit a homer, and then did what Sammy Sosa used to do, ha it was amusing, and you could hear him saying this is for Sammy.

4. I am
This if we beat KC today will be our fourth consecutive weekend sweep, the only one we didnt win was the first one in NY, and we only lost that because of a freak play in the sun in the late innings.

For your sake, I hope they make the playoffs!

8. caution, Will Robinson . . .
the Yankees have won two -- count 'em -- TWO in a row! . . . both shutouts -- and today's starter was Kevin Brown! . . .

are these the stirrings of a sleeping giant? . . . or merely the last-ditch rumblings of a dysfunctional family of geriatric has-beens? . . . only time will tell . . . :)
