Marlins SS Hanley Ramirez whining after being benched for not hustling..
Edited on Tue May-18-10 03:18 PM by Upton
Hanley Ramirez, upset over being benched during Monday night's game, vented his frustrations prior to Tuesday's game against the D-backs -- a game for which he was not in the lineup.

Speaking to a gathering of reporters, the two-time All-Star shortstop said he was made an example of, and that he lost a measure of respect for manager Fredi Gonzalez.

--------

"It's his team. He can do what he (expletive) wants," Ramirez said of Gonzalez.

Ramirez told reporters he wasn't planning on apologizing to his teammates or his manager. Whether that changes over the next day or two remains to be seen.

Check out the video. I realize Manny*, er, Hanley Ramirez claims that he couldn't run because a foul ball made his footsie hurt, but come on.

Nothing like a good Marlins soap opera...except a Dodger* one of course.

Go Giants!!!

1. lol.
Yeah. He wasn't making much of an effort. He didn't try very hard to catch that ball either. Whats hilarious is that whining about this is going to bring soooo much more attention to it! Oh well, idiots get what they deserve!:)

2. He dogged it, fuck him.
He needs to grow up. I would have benched his lazy ass too.

3. Yeah.. I think the Marlins manager
Fredi Gonzales did exactly the right thing. He never played in the majors, something that hasn't escaped Ramirez's attention either:

"That’s OK. He (Gonzalez) doesn’t understand that (playing hurt). He never played in the big leagues.”

5. The disrespect he showed his manager is inexcusable
I don't give a damn how good he is, and he is good, he deserved to be benched. And if he really got hurt after fouling the ball off his foot, why wasn't he honest with the trainer and/or the manager? Ramirez seems to be just another punk.

6. Prediction: Ramirez will be another Milton Bradley
I was at Dodger Stadium the night he melted down after being booed for lackadaisical play. It was one of the wildest things I've ever seen and resulted in the Dodgers getting Andre Ethier. I'd say that was a good trade, wouldn't you?

Oh. Yeah. Soap operas... Not very common when a team is in the middle of an 8 game winning streak. Get ready to be relegated to third place tonight.

7. A Dodger soap opera is already happening
look no further than the McCourts....A lot of interesting tidbits, such as the Dodgers plans to cut payroll, have been coming out of the McCourt's wrangling. I'm sure more will follow..to the ever loving delight of all Giants fans..

8. Maybe the Gnats fans think there's a soap opera going on in L.A., but the Dodger fans don't...
And, apparently, neither do the Dodger players or the L.A. Times.

You Gnats fans just keep on hoping though, and keep on singing: There's ALWAYS tomorrow...
