A's skunk Giants; pound Zito, 9-0
Last night, at the first game of the year at the Giant's China Basin ball field, the Oakland A's treated the home team rudely, shocking the fans with a 9-0 win. Starter Barry Zito, continuing his terrible pre-season, got ripped in the first inning. New A's third baseman, Kevin Kouzmanoff, who's looking awesome, I must say, screamed a line drive off the right field wall for an RBI double, followed one batter later by a massive homer off the bat of catcher Kurt Suzuki.

Let's take a look at Zito's line:

B Zito (L,0-2) 3IP 7H 5R 5ER 1W 4K 1HR

OUCH

I was surprised because the Giants' pitching has been prety spectacular this spring. Except for Zito and a couple bad starts for Timmy L. But you know that Timmy will be up to form come opening day. But Zito has to be a real question mark. The question being: Will the Ginats try to unload him by trade deadline?

2. LOL-spring training scores?
I'm no Giants fan but either them or the Cleveland baseball team would be in 1st place if spring training scores meant something.

3. This weekend games mean more.
Especially when they are rivalries like the A's and Small Men.

It's really not Spring Training anymore. These are exhibition games played in different ball parks than the Grapefruit and Cactus League parks.

4. They still don't count in the standings or for personal stats
Let's take a look at Zito's stats in a few months, then we can discuss how much of a bust he is this year.
