Edited on Sun Feb-21-10 08:37 PM by givemebackmycountry
THIS is the biggest game on the menu tonight DU'ers and the US is up 2-1 late in the 1st period.
If you ain't glued to the TV...

Man, am I dumb - I thought they were the same uniforms as when we beat the Soviets in the Miracle on Ice.

1. I'm shocked that this isn't on NBC but is on MSNBC
considering this is the premiere event of the night, you'd think it'd be on the main channel so everyone can watch it.

I can't imagine that they would put US v. USSR on MSNBC had it existed 30 years ago.

2. Better yet
it was tape delay. The game was played in the afternoon and no one watched it.

5. Watching the game in Norway
It's carried live on Norwegian and Swedish television here. Loads of intensity, great game.

24. Wish I could stay up for the Sweden/Finland game.
That's a great rivalry as well, though it will be hard pressed to match the intensity of this one.

Alas, early doctor appointments in the morning. :(

9. best I've ever seen
I wasn't alive for the miracle on ice game, so I don't know if seeing that game live was better, but HOLY SHIT! tonight's game was absolutely incredible. I couldn't breathe the last 2 minutes.

14. That's why I love the game.
Tough to top the intensity of the game when it's played at that level, and we just saw it at it's highest level. Great win for the U.S., and now that pressure I talked about being all on Canada grows even larger.

22. Not this year. It's NHL size rinks this time around.
It helps a team like the U.S., for sure.

23. Actually, in these Olympics, they're using the NHL 80' x 200' surface
which is kind of odd; I would think that "the Garage" would easily be able to accommodate the wider international surface.

25. Agreed. Normally I don't get too much into hockey but that game was BANANAS
Living in Canada for four years left a few changes on my personality, and the ability to appreciate good hockey was one of them.

However things would have been better if the US wasn't playing 2/3rds of that game in our own zone. That made me nervous.

8. One heckuva game!
That Miller had a great game in goal. Canada was shooting the puck at him constantly throughout the last four minutes or so and he stopped every shot. Go team USA!
