30 year anniversary tomorrow
of the miracle on ice! I can't believe it's been 30 years! Eruzione, Johnson, and Craig are going to be on NBC with Al Michaels after the Russia/Czech game.

1. And Klinger was there!
Jaime Farr was on espn today...he apparently had a seat on the russian side, surrounded by Russian officials...they showed a photo...you never saw such severe, unahppy people...they lost AND no vodka!

2. LOL!
Was he wearing his Carmen Miranda fruity hat??

They're walking down memory lane now. Herb Brooks really knew how to push their buttons.

I think that's the one sports moment that I'll never, ever forget!

3. Man. I remember it like it was yesterday.
A soph in college. No live TV. Just radio reports. Watched the tape broadcast. Then campus went absolutely nuts. I remember going to parties where you thought no way are these people sport fans. But they had little signs on the walls saying US-4 Fucking Russki's-3. Just a surreal night.

6. Yeah, seems more like yesterday than 30 years!
Even though they're older & grayer, they became the wide-eyed kids they were back then when they were reminiscing with Al Michaels. It was a kick to see all the old footage, how the crowd went wild!

...I think it will be very difficult to top, ever, considering the circumstances surrounding the game.

9. I agree
That rivalry was like no other and with everything going on in the world at the time, the mood of the country, I don't think it'll ever be topped.

Lysacek/Plushenko just doesn't come close!! :)

14. Same, sophomore in college
I remember word spreading in late afternoon on the USC campus. Even the sorority girls biking back to the Row on 28th Street were squealing about it.

My roommate got so drunk after dominating a bottle of celebratory tequila that he passed out on our outdoor basketball court, smack under the basket. My friend and I were playing a game of H-O-R-S-E, often jumping over him to establish the shot.

10. In the Greece Summer Olympics..
a team from Puerto Rico defeated a US team full of NBA stars 92-73...

It was the first ever loss by an NBA laden US Olympic squad....

I wonder, in Puerto Rico, if they make a similar big deal about their miracle on the hardwood?
