1. you gotta watch the coverage on USA, CNBC, and MSNBC
much better coverage of the actual sports, without all the fluff and human interest stories.

3. so far I've seen Curling, figure skating, and Hockey on those channels
I imagine more sports will be shown as we go deeper into the olympics.

4. men's downhill was shown for 30 minutes
yes, women's hockey games have been on, and curling matches, and of course figure skating, but there are enough events to fill all those channels all day, and show more competition live - especially here on the west coast, 200 miles from Whistler.

so why am i seeing old World Cup competition on the US channel, with a NBC crawl below showing results?

they're doing their usual crap job, and you have to see what Canada sees to appreciate that i guess.

5. I do think they did a better job during the summer games
Edited on Wed Feb-17-10 04:57 PM by charlie and algernon
Or perhaps there were were round the clock games during the 2008 summer games? But it seemed like they were showing more variety in 2008 and they were showing it more times. I could turn it on at 1am and see coverage of the kayaking and canoeing events.

8. So I was watching curling today
on of those other channels. One end finished. Go to commercial. Come back, show some very brief highlights of other matches. Go to even longer commercial break. Come back, and 4 stones have already been thrown in the new end.

WTF?

6. It sucks.
With 5000 cable channels out there why - other than sponsorship - aren't more sports shown live? I mean, come on. I know the results from downhill and qualifying from the half pipe but NBC is waiting to show it in prime time. It's so annoying.

7. I called the complaint line
It was full, and I send emails from the nbc site every day about the poor programming. Tonight when bob costas and collingswood started their banter I flipped! The only human beings I want to see on the screen are the athletes. Dana ; )

9. I don't have cable and I've seen more sports than I know what to do with.
When I had cable I was lucky to catch anything cool. Online I get damn near everything.

10. I don't have any
I like how they show other events on CNBC and MSNBC so if there is something I'm not into on NBC I switch. I don't follow the Olympics real close, I still watch certain shows and a Suns game or a good NBA game like Boston @ LAL this Thursday. Also Sun Devil basketball but they're not on often either. I'm rambling but the point is whether it's tape-delayed or happening live I don't know one way or the other so that doesn't bother me if they are showing me something that's tape-delayed.

13. Last night, they showed 8 of 45 Women's Downhill runs
3 medal runs
1 non-medal american
3 spectacular crashes
1 final challenger (maria reisch)

15 minutes of competition interspersed with 25 minutes of commercials, and then 10-ish minutes of Lindsey Vonn hugging her husband and crying (which was touching but i'd rather have seen more runs than intruded on their intimacy).

not acceptable.
