Source: Stallworth to sign with Ravens
Embattled wide receiver Donte' Stallworth, whose contract with Cleveland was terminated last week, will sign a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, sources told ESPN.

The agreed-to deal will be worth $900,000, with Stallworth able to earn another $300,000 in incentives, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Baltimore's top four receivers from last season are not under contract for 2010 and the team is in desperate need of playmakers. The Ravens hope Stallworth can contribute next season.

Stallworth was recently reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after serving a year-long suspension for killing a 59-year-old pedestrian in Florida while driving drunk. Stallworth spent 24 days in prison and reached a financial settlement out of court with the family of Mario Reyes.

Stallworth, 28, played just one season for the Browns after signing a seven-year, $35 million contract in 2008. That year he recorded 17 receptions for 170 yards and one touchdown in 11 games.

I don't like this. He f-ing KILLED someone. He shouldn't be playing football and SHOULD still be doing time. Are the Ravens THAT desperate that they have to sign a murderer?

2. Well I guess if you include Ray Lewis potentially covering up for one
but then he became a hall of fame linebacker, so the city forgave him. Perhaps Stallworth will put up Jerry Rice numbers now, lol.

4. Do you believe in innocent til proven guilty or did you even follow the trial?

There is definitely no evidence he killed anyone and there was no evidence that he assisted anybody in a stabbing or encouraged anybody to do a stabbing. Even the people he testified AGAINST were acquitted. But I suppose you were there? :eyes:

Anyways to the OP he paid the price and I'm happy he gets a second chance. It's not like he's becoming a law enforcement officer or anything like that. Plus the fact that the person he hit was not in a crosswalk is a big reason his sentence wasn't heavier but he does have his license suspended for life which seems fair. Also 2 years house arrest, 1,000 hours of community service, and 10 years probation.

Yeah, just walk away while a guy lies dying...yeah, any decent person would do that.
