I suppose I could research this on my own...I just heard the news about the Raider's mega-signing of kicker Sebastian Janikowski.

1. I don't know, but I know that at one point, the Lions' kicker
was the 2nd highest scorer on the team. This was the previous kicker, Eddie Murray. Their current kicker, Jason Hanson, probably routinely scores the most points on the team now!

3. Not uncommon

I'd be very surprised if anyone on any team scored the most points for their team that wasn't a kicker.

What is uncommon is a kicker that played the entire season or close to it finishing 2nd or below.

There are exceptions but the individual player has to find the end zone a lot. A couple of examples off the top of my head is Randy Moss in '07, I believe he was #2 in the entire league in points scored but just scored 1 more point than the team kicker. That is because he scored 23 touchdowns. Also when LaDanian Tomlinson scored 31 touchdowns the year before that, actually lead the league. Kaeding finished 3rd in the whole league.

2. Kickers always lead the league and their teams in points scored

That's because of field goals and they 99% of the time add a point to a touchdown. Percentage? Probably about 1/3 of total team points kickers account for.

4. In Oakland's case, 48%
Janikowski scored 95 points out of a team total of a highly pathetic 197 on the season.
