Pot on Links at Golf Channel, Ex-Worker Says
Pot on Links at Golf Channel, Ex-Worker Says

(CN) - A freelance cameraman says he's entitled to a drug-free workplace, but he can't get it at The Golf Channel. He claims that after he reported co-workers for "smoking marijuana on the golf courses during the taping and production of live golf events," he was harassed and fired.

Greg Kochis sued TGC Inc. dba The Golf Channel, of Orlando, and NEP Broadcasting, of Pittsburgh, in Cuyahoga County Court, Cleveland.

Kochis says he's worked as a freelance "videographer" since 2000 for The Golf Channel, but his coworkers made his life miserable after he reported them to two managers for firing up on the links and at a golf show, in April and May 2007.

Kochis says the mangers agreed to stop the problem, but did not stop it. He claims his co-workers ostracized him by refusing to share hotel rooms with him and "writing messages such as 'Kochis is a Rat' and 'Kochis sucks Dick' in and around the workplace."

5. I know, it sounds like fun...........
But I've been to events where the GC has been working. Those folks run their asses off. And even though I can't begrudge them a little puff between holes, I have support the dude's right to not be subjected to pressure from the tokers.

He may get his wish though. I'm sure this negative attention will cause GC to start drug-testing and adopting a stricter stance on drug use, as heavy-handed as it is.

way to deal with the frustration that comes naturally when subjecting oneself to this unique form of tort--, excuse me, enhanced interaction.

Couple this with the existential nature that golf can take for some and you have a great experience. A good way to "be the ball."

Greg - go fuck yourself and don't bring everyone down with your buzzkill bullshit.

7. This is a hybrid. Bluegrass..
Kentucky bluegrass, featherbed bent and northern California sinsemilla. The amazing stuff about this is you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on the stuff.

10. Thanks for the laugh. LOVE this movie. Favorite part is when Murray is explaining to
Chevy Chase how to sabotage his opponent by cutting his tendon "so he'll pull everything."

18. The person is considered a rat here because
he reported something that, while against company policy, we all support, or at least accept. If he had reported them doing something we didn't support, like smoking cigarettes on the job, then he'd be a "whistleblower". That's the only difference.

I wonder if anyone would feel different if the guys he reported were the ones who construct those 30 foot temporary TV towers and one of them collapsed?
