Cubs fans-Nomar out 2-3 MONTHS with serious groin pull
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2042685

ST. LOUIS -- Chicago Cubs shortstop Nomar Garciaparra will be sidelined at least two to three months because of a torn left groin.

Garciaparra was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, one day after he got hurt while leaving the batter's box during a game against St. Louis. Cubs trainer Mark O'Neal said the muscle pulled away from the bone.

The Cubs, doctors and Garciaparra will decide in the next 10 days whether an operation is needed.

1. UGH
Just UGHHHH. I remember them showing a replay of him just walking out of the batter box and falling over. I figured it was the groin... but... I didn't expect it to be that severe... damn.

3. Nomar: No Mas. No Mas. No Mas!
Well, everyone knew it would happen. At least it happened early, giving him a shot at playing at the end of the year.

5. It's all a part of the anti-curse plan.
In 2006, the Cubs will be healthy other than Nomar early in the year, and they'll have gone out and gotten a real bullpen. Then they'll trade Nomar to the White Sox in July and go on to win the World Series. A couple years later, the same thing will happen to the White Sox, when they trade Nomar to Cleveland in July of 2008, before winning their first World Series since 1906.

The key is Nomar. This much we know.
