(Upton's) Playoff Dreams End In Philly

In the giddiness that marked the conclusion of the 2008 season with the announcement that Mike Singletary had been named permanent head coach of the 49ers, team President Jed York boldly proclaimed that that was the last time the regular season would end in December for this seemingly ascendant club.

The implication being, the postseason was in the near future for the 49ers - the very near future.

That future is a little ways off yet. Though the 49ers will be playing January football in 2010, that is only because the 2009 regular season ends Jan. 3 in St. Louis. :rofl:
