1. As a Patriots fan, I will not pass judgment on Terrell Owens.
It invites too much scrutiny. I don't need every Eagles fan on DU screeching at me. :P

7. Aww, Arkana, say what you will.
I'm an Iggles supporter; I dislike the word fan -- I don't want to be fanatic about anything. I didn't like that the Iggles lost in the big bowl but that wasn't YOUR fault! It wasn't TO's either. He IS good. But he also IS under contract, one that paid him $9 million last year. All Iggles supporters ain't bad folk; we 'jes seems like it sometimes!

Maybe this is the year for the Iggles!

2. I don't understand the greed
TO needs attention year round and this is his way of getting it in the off season. How can one not be satisfied with millions of dollars?

5. Starting with the belief that NO ONE
should make that much money, especially for playing a game, I object to such obscene salaries.

That being said and recognizing that the reality is that some people make and have way too much money, I actually have to side with T.O.

The Eagles do not have to "honor the contract" because nothing is guaranteed in NFL contracts, unlike other pro sports. Given the physical destruction that many players undergo in their short careers, that is blatantly unfair. The number of broken down (crippled) linemen and others who are used up and thrown away by the clubs in spite of "contracts" is very high.

So, who am I to criticize T.O. for trying to get whatever he can and taking advantage of his leverage to better his deal? Especially with the history of the Eagles and their on-the-cheap approach to getting and keeping players, I say, "Give 'em hell T.O. and get as much of the bastards' money as you can."

6. The Eagles Will Have Big Salary Cap Problems This Year
It's just starting to occur to me. Not only TO, but all those high draft picks that have to be signed. Mark my words -- it's going to be a nightmare for them. They'll probably have to cut some less-famous starters who are making $2-3M a year in order to make the cap.

Not a criticism of the Eagles -- just that in this climate, an embarrassment of riches can be a real problem.

Now, my Giants have managed the cap pretty wisely this year. Got rid of all the big hits except Eli Manning and Michael Strahan. No first-round pick. They'll probably pick up another good player before opening day.

Just sayin'.

8. Such is the nature of NFL contracts
The fact is that The Eagles do not intend on paying the more expensive part of this back loaded contract(they will either cut him or make him restructure where at 35 or 36 his value will be markedly lower) so I have trouble blaming TO for trying to get all he can now.

9. If An NFL Team Doesn't Have To Abide By Contracts
then why should the player? At any point in his contract, the Iggles can walk in on T.O. and say pack your bags. So why can't T.O. ask for more money during his contract? The NFL is a huge mega-business with multiple media contracts and billions of dollars in revenue, yet, their players are some of the lowest paid pro athletes in the sports world.

10. He's being a jerkoff.
He is guaranteed 21 million over the first three years of the deal. There is no reason for him to be pulling this bullshit. His agent is a scumbag of the highest order and lying asshole to boot. The Eagles do not renegotiate with anyone and they won't for him nor will they trade him. He'll be in uniform for the first game of the season because he can't resist the red lights on MNF.
