Last night I was flipping around and since it is baseball season I thought I would check out how "the boys" were doing-The Atlanta Braves.

I knew that they were supposed to play the Nationals today (first home game for DC and yes W is throwing out the first pitch but that is not what this is about) but apparently they were playing in Atlanta last night.

Anyway something very close to the following message showed up on the box on TBS

Due to Major League Baseball blackout restrictions the game between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals can not be telecast. Programming will resume at the end of play.

No Braves on TBS on FREAKIN' TBS?!?!??!

Why? Because they are playing the DC team??? Oh cripes not this again-Redskins games are treated like we are living in DC not in Richmond so we never get 4 games on a Sunday.

I know lots of people who just leave it on as background noise during summer nights. They do yard work or read and as the pass by the TV they check out how "the boys" are doing.

This is an absolute staple of southern life for crying out loud.

but then there was no channel covering the Nationals.

At least when I was in the New York area, one of the new york cable channel or even broadcast channels was covering the braves. One way or another, the game was on.

2. That IS odd.....

I'm not a Braves fan, but when I'm simply craving baseball, I know there's always a game on TBS. What gives?

its like when you couldn't count on anything else you could always count on there being a Braves game on TBS :)

Of course when I was growing up, it would be Braves on TBS with the TV turned down and the game on the radio lol. Forgot if it was because Skip Kerry was on the radio and could still listen while commercials were going on.

I have no idea. They did have Raymond or Friends on at 8PM but for the whole hour leading up to it..nothing just black screen white letters.

I am a Braves fan but aside from that it is like a public service, the Braves and TBS. I have no idea. Whoo boy is there going to be an uproar around here if this happens often.

Hell we have (at least for now) the Braves AAA team here :shrug:

5. I don't think the deal is finalized with MLB and the Orioles.

The Nationals are not even available on the MLB Extra Innings Package. So, thank Peter Angelos.
