Is Brendt Favre a good guy or a bad guy?
I really dont know? Did Green Bay Really screw him over? Or what is up with Minnesota? Or is Brendt Favre playing both ends against the middle? After all, he is a great QB...

6. I love him
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 07:29 PM by OKNancy
I loved him when he played for Green Bay and now I enjoy watching him with the Vikes.
He seems to be a good guy. Has a beautiful family. Have no idea what his politics are, but I don't care.

ETA: and he loves to play the game. I like it when a player shows real joy in the game they play.

7. He throws a ball for a living - that goes beyond "good" or "bad".
Though I think that, personally, he's a pretty good guy. And he's certainly a goddamn good quarterback.

I also think he's a good sportsman and team-worker, which I can appreciate.

When it comes to the moron criminals who play professional sports, Brett stands above the rest as an actual decent human being, IMO.

He's a helluva a quarterback. Never was a Pack Fan, and I am not a Vikings fan, but I respect what Brett has done during his career.

11. He's OK but I wish he'd make up his frickin mind whether he wants to retire or not
The drama sort of demeans his considerable accomplishments. Although I recently saw a Sears ad where he was poking fun at indecisive people so maybe he's aware of how bad it makes him look.

19. Yeah, for this year
But we're gonna go through the same big drama every year until he finally embarrasses himself like Joe Montana and John Unitas did by trying to get one more year out of a career that was already over. He doesn't need the money and he's already broken most of the records. If he keeps going he'll eventually be remembered as that old man who didn't know when to quit.

20. He signed with Minnesota for two years.
... and the only "drama" is that created by ESPN.
In football years, he is an old man, and he still plays very well.

18. I don't think Green Bay screwed him over.
He decided to retire and then realized he made a bad choice, that is, he still wanted to play football. I live kind of close to where he grew up and I've heard stories about him, good and bad. I've heard nothing but good things about his wife, however.

Guys like them can NEVER quit, they have to play until they make asses out themselves.
THATS what I don't like about them.
AND how much of that is really the $ signs twinkling in there eyes, IT has to play some part of it

24. He's not real popular in Wisconsin these days but on the other hand
he was more or less the Messiah when he donned the green and cheese jersey.

The particulars of his post-Packers career notwithstanding, he strikes me as a decent soul who loves the game, plays it extremely well, and is absolutely certain to be Hall of Fame on first-round.

I prefer the Bears in that division over a long period but it's really difficult to work up any dislike for someone who brings as much to the game as Favre.

25. It's really sickening when you hear the whole retirement timeline
Edited on Mon Nov-02-09 12:22 AM by Poiuyt
Favre retired from the Packers on March 6, 2008.

The week of March 24, he changes his mind and wants to come back to the Packers. The Packers charter a plane to go down to Mississippi to welcome him back.

March 29, Favre changes his mind again and decides to stay retired.

June 16-20, Favre changes his mind again and is thinking about unretiring. GB coach Mike McCarthy asks him if he is 100% committed and Favre says no.

paraphrased from
http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=3484775&hcId=3484868&topId=null

I get really annoyed when I hear people say that Ted Thompson and the Packers kicked him out. They were ready to welcome him back with open arms if he wanted to come back. And my personal feeling is that Favre's total disregard for Aaron Rodgers was shitty and egotistical.

29. Did you hear his little whinefest after the game last night?
He did a short press conference thing.

He sounded totally fake in his questionable "praise" of the Packers' abilities. And he also managed to slip in some very subtle "Poor me I'm a victim against all those Brett Favre haters but I have my present team to build me up and believe in me" crap.

Good guy...bad guy...I dunno...

But he needs to grow up and start acting like a man. It's about time at 40 years old.

32. He never wanted to come back to Green Bay
It was all an act to get him out of off season training and training camps. did the same thing this year with the timing of his unretirement.
I dont think he was ever much of a team player

31. I 've heard worse
there are some ugly rumours floating around, folks with agendas and axes to grind. It always bothered me, his dad's bar, the Broke Spoke in Kiln MS, basically a biker bar, prominantly displays the rebel flag all over the place. I was given a t-shirt from the place, threw it away.

She meant well, but she kind of bought it in haste, back when I was a fan of his. I did have the back replaced with plain green cloth, but now I still don't think I would wear it. Oh well.
