DENVER - Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday, after smacking homers in four straight games last week.
The Rockies shortstop, who leads all big league shortstops in homeruns this season with a career-high 29, hit .391 (9-for-23) last week while compiling 21 total bases and posting a .913 slugging percentage.
Tulo's four-game home run streak from Sept. 15 to 19 also marked a career best, and was the longest streak by a shortstop since Miguel Tejada in 2005.
Tulowitzki's fielding percentage this season is .988 - no big league shortstop has ever posted a fielding percentage of .990 or better in a season while also bashing at least 25 home runs.
For winning the award, Tulo gets an engraved, luxury Swiss Timepiece from Torneau, the world's largest watch store.
