For those of you infatuated with attendance and ratings...
Cowboys' home opener draws historic TV ratings

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/09/21/cowboys.ratings.ap/index.html

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Giants' last-second win over the Cowboys at the opening of Dallas' new stadium drew the highest preliminary television ratings for a prime-time game in 11 years.

New York's 33-31 victory Sunday on NBC earned a 16.5 overnight rating and 27 share. The network said Monday that's the best overnight rating for a prime-time matchup since a 17.4/27 for Broncos-Dolphins on Dec. 21, 1998.

NFL ratings are off to a strong start this season. Fox drew the largest audience for a Week 1 Sunday game since records started being kept in 1987.

Ratings represent the percentage of all households with televisions tuned into a program, and shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time. Overnight ratings measure the nation's largest markets.

...snip

Also, the Cowboys set the NFL attendance record. I just thought those that are always whining about attendance would be interested in this little tidbit!

1. interested yes, infatuated no
TV ratings are up across the board?---> I bet stadium attendence is down in some places. Tough economy keeps people home. I think the same thing happened with NASCAR. Bonus for the advertisers.

I know in Lambeau many season ticket holders are selling tix to high interest games. Home opener at Lambeau had some fans calling it "North soldier field" with so many Bears fans there.

When/If Favre steps onto the frozen tundra in a Vikes uniform,,,,you may see a higher TV audience, maybe highest ever. You'll also see alot of purple up in the seats. One ticket holder put it to me this way: 'He makes millions (#4), why cant we cash in?'

2. The Giants VS Redskins game set a record for viewership for an opening day game
so I think it would be more accurate to attribute these numbers to the might NY Giants
