So perhaps someone could enlighten me (Pete Rose vs SteroidBoyz)
Okay, if taking steroids to create these pumped-up home run hitters whose artificial, drug-induced muscle does indeed affect the outcome of games can be considered cheating, how is that any different than Pete Rose betting on games? One guy gets tossed out of baseball, banned for life and refused the Hall of Fame, the others get a slap on the wrist, lie before Congress and get to keep their ill-gotten records. At least Pete earned his.

Perhaps someone here could tell me how this could possibly reflect any kind of justice in MLB?

1. Because one of them violated
The most inviolable, etched in granite rule, that has been in MLB since the days of Kennesaw Mountain Landis and the Black Sox Scandal.

Steroids are a relatively recent phenomenon in comparison.

2. Rose committed an offense...
the previous MLB caretakers noted as worthy of banning. Today's caretakers are slimy greaseballs, who refuse to take the same stand in regard to performance-enhancing drugs.

As long as Fehr and Selig are around, there will be no justice in MLB.

4. For one thing,
..the powers-that-be actually had fairly solid evidence to prove Rose's wrongdoing.

No such evidence exists to support most of the allegations about who used steroids. Much of what we're hearing about steroids is highly speculative.

5. Steroids weren't banned in baseball until recently
and there was no testing done. The players who broke the records have not yet been proven to have done steroids.

Pete Rose bet on baseball, something the every single player knows is the single most inviolate rule tehre is. The guy should NEVER be allowe din the hall of fame or anywhere near a professional game ever again.

His records stand and should continue to stand but he should be out period.

You say they lied before congress. prove it. Innocent until proven guilty. We *know* Rose bet. We have no idea if Bonds, McGwire or any other players outside of Jose Canseco, Gary Sheffield and Jason Giambi used steroids (none of whom are record holders of note or who are likely to get into the HOF except possibly Sheffield.)

Additionally this thing is just starting to play out now, The Pete Rose banning took years to really take hold.
