Zito and Giants pound Marlins 3-0

Barry Zito pitched 8 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball and Juan Uribe added a 2 run HR as the Wild Card leading Giants easily beat the punchless Marlins for the 4th time in 6 games this season.

Giants now have 12 shutouts, far and away the best in MLB..

2. Actually Zito's pitched much better this year

than his 5-8 record would indicate. He's given up less hits that innings pitched but often has been the victim of a lack of run support or 1 bad inning. Still, his ERA is too high..Zito has a track record of pitching better in the second half of the season, hopefully that's going to continue...last night was a good start.

3. What's impressive about this pitching staff is they're finding ways to win.

Sanchez struggles but Sadowski picks up the slack. Johnson gets injured but then Zito throws a gem. Wilson rests but Romo is there for the save. Very cool.
