Mets center fielder Beltran expected to return in 3-4 weeks
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/06/30/mets.beltran/index.html

Noted orthopedic surgeon Richard Steadman confirmed Mets doctors' diagnosis that Carlos Beltran has a very bad bone bruise in his right knee, but surgery will not be needed. Beltran's expected to be able to return in three to four weeks. He's been prescribed rest.

Beltran traveled to Vail, Colo., this week to get the second opinion from Steadman. There was some concern that Beltran's injury could be far more serious, considering Steadman is a well-known micro-fracture surgeon. But he's expected to return after the All-Star break. The star center fielder has been on the disabled list since June 22. He's batting .336 with eight homers, 40 RBIs and 11 steals.

Injuries have taken their toll on the Mets this season. In addition to Beltran, Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado, John Maine, Oliver Perez and J.J. Putz are all currently on the disabled list.

------

Well, it will be interesting if the Mets continue their plummet to a record worse than the Pittsburgh Pirates.

1. Funny that the NY Post
today proclaimed that Beltran's career was in Jepardy.

Looks like Pittsburgh got their guy in Milledge. Come with a bit of tude but has a lot of upside. He's not even close to his potential right now.

St Louis gets their guy in Derosa who can play just about any position.

Minaya sits on his hands.

2. Thanks for the heads up!
A flurry of trades and it's still a month until the trade deadline. We'll see.
