1. The mantra for when the Giants make the playoffs is:
"Lincecum and Cain, and then pray for rain." HA

That way we can throw just those two guys en route to our 6th World Series title.

Oh my gosh is he good. A couple of trouble spots, but just unbelievable.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2009 Bay Bridge Series Champion San Francisco Giants.

If there's any consolation, the A's have to be thrilled the Coliseum was packed with so many thousands and thousands of Giants fans to help boost Oakland's embarrassing attendance figures! In fact, it sounded like a home game tonight! :D

AND THE NY METS LOSE AGAIN!

2. Just another great performance

He's as tough as anybody in baseball...I was worried for a bit, the Giants weren't adding on, but after Tim got those DPs in the middle innings he was throwing as well in the 8th and 9th as he had all night.

BTW, Rockies winning streak is history.

EDIT...Attendance for the game was 32,854, A's average attendance is 17,439.. so one can safely assume that approximately half the fans there tonight were rooting for the Giants....and you're right, at times, it did sound like a home game.

3. I only care about attendance, not what the actual teams do.
I'm not impressed by this pitching performance unless the stadium was sold out.

5. No no, it means EVERYTHING!
That's why I can't give the pitcher credit for his performance unless it was a sellout.

7. Well, I'm actually mocking Upton.
But if you agree that attendance somehow makes a team better or worse than I guess I'm mocking you as well. What do want me to say? It's the dumbest argument I've ever seen in the sports world (no easy feat).

8. I've never argued that attendance makes a team better or worse, per se.
But I think it's certainly fair and valid and pertinent when talking about various teams .. and specifically, those supported by (allegedly) particular DUers who brag that they root for a better franchise than mine.

9. The Marlins ARE a better franchise in recent history.
They won two rings in the last 12 years. The Giants have won none in 55. And the attendance doesn't change that. There is NOTHING valid in that argument. As I said yesterday, if you want to use it to argue which city has the better fans, live it up. But to think it's valid and pertinent in any way regarding who is better in recent history between the Marlins and Giants is beyond vapid, and comes across as a MAJOR sign of insecurity on the part of the people pushing that line of reasoning.

feverishly poring through image searches looking for pics of empty stadiums.

Dude, you really need to get a life.

12. Nah, I'm too busy enjoying the Giants season-best 7 games over .500 and
first place Wild Card status!

The Dodgers have to be getting worried.

Sure, they have a huge lead and quite a record.

But the last time I checked, huge leads and quite a record don't come into play come postseason time, with the exception of home stadium advantage.

One thing is for sure.

The Dodgers AND Giants are both better than the New York Mets!

10. Thank you, Upton
I don't have to go to another website to see how my team did the day before, thanks to you.

You'll always let us know when they win, and somebody else will let us know otherwise.
