1. MLB denies Yanks’ protest
LOL

NEW YORK (AP)—Major League Baseball president Bob DuPuy has denied the formal protest filed by the New York Yankees after a disputed loss to the Florida Marlins.

New York manager Joe Girardi protested Sunday’s 6-5 defeat at Florida because of a Marlins substitution mix-up.

In the top of the eighth inning, Chris Coghlan(notes) started in left after manager Fredi Gonzalez had removed him in a double switch. Alejandro De Aza(notes) batted for pitcher Renyel Pinto(notes) in the seventh and was supposed to take over in left, but never ran on the field.

Leo Nunez(notes) threw a pitch, then Girardi protested. Coghlan was removed, Jeremy Hermida(notes) went to left and the Yankees protested, trailing 6-3 at the time.

Girardi thought Nunez should have been ruled out of the game.

Gonzalez said before the Marlins played the Orioles on Tuesday night he was relieved to learn the protest had been denied.

“For me, it wasn’t something you could protest but it’s embarrassing, big-time embarrassing,” Gonzalez said. “You’ve got 25 guys on the team and six coaches and staff members and 50,000 people in the stands and two million viewers, it’s not easy. You get the game protested and then an off-day. It was a tough couple days.

“By rule, Nunez was never out of the game,” Gonzalez said. “The only question was, put the right guy out there and where does he hit. That’s it.”

4. Sadly, the San Francisco move has completely jinxed the franchise.

At least Pittsburgh Pirates have never abandoned their city.

6. That's like me arguing the Fakers don't own any of the championships they

7. Uh, Inglewood isn't on the other side of the nation from L.A.
Seriously, if you have to go back to a time when your team played on the other side of the country to find something to brag about, you don't have much to brag about.

8. No, you're missing the point. I'm not bragging about the Giants'
5-time World Champions status.

I'm simply defending my franchise against the knuckleheads who can't get over the fact the team I (and Upton for that matter), fiercely support, has FIVE rings.

Now then, this is the part where you and the buffoons such as inthebrain, madinmaryland, et al, whine about how the championships don't belong to "Frisco" :eyes:

9. Oh, they belong to them. They just won them in NY.
It's like people people here in Boston claiming the Braves titles as our own. I mean, they did play in Boston, so I guess this city has a lot of rings to brag about before 2004. Starting to see how silly your position is yet? You can take credit if you want, it is the Giants, but let's face it, when you have to go back to an era when they played 3000 miles away to find something to brag about it doesn't say much for the current state of affairs, does it?

You can call us buffoons if it makes you feel better, but most of us root for teams that have won in our actual city.

10. I said in my last post that I'm not bragging about the Giants' five
Major League Baseball World Championships.

Just like I don't brag about the 49ers' five National Football League Super Bowl Championships.

Again, I'm simply pointing out to the usual suspects that said titles exist, that they belong to my team and it's time for said usual suspects to get over it.

You may concede that the Giants have 5 rings. Others in this forum refuse to admit it.

I'll be 100% honest with, cboy. It's stuff like this that is so easily proven wrong that makes it so hard to take you seriously on the topic of sports. You'll say anything at all to paint yourself as a light of "true sports" fans with zero regard to your previous words and actions. You harp on anyone and everyone down here, but you continually show yourself to be hypocritical, forgetful at best or a liar at worst, and just someone with no standing on these topics as you constantly contradict yourself.

I know you like being the center of attention as you've admitted to it. But is being the center of attention a good thing when the attention is just laughing at you? You root for a mediocre team at best, but deride others for their teams not being good enough. You have to resort to attendance to find something to brag about. You follow a team that hasn't won in 55 years, yet act like they are better than teams that have won recently, and more than once. And now you claim that you don't brag about the 49ers when it's quite clear that you do (and that was hardly an exhaustive search on my part). Why don't you just try to grow up a little when it comes to sports, and stop being so sensitive and insecure that you ridicule people and teams in such a hypocritical manner?
