on his campaign signs, stickers, etc.

edited because I had the verse wrong as I incorrectly read it as 2 Corinthians

2 Chronicles

Theocrat Jim will save us from our wicked ways if we only will vote for him

1. The passage is II Chronicles 7:14
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 06:11 PM by MikeH
In the Old Testament. It is a little bit hard to read on that particular image.

The passage reads: If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Edited to add: he is obviously a theocrat, but that passage does make more sense for him to use than the one in II Corinthians.

2. Huh?
In this verse, Paul was really just telling the Corinthians that he had been telling others about how proud he was of them, and that they had proved the bragging was justified. I'm still confused.

NOW THE REALLY FUNNY PART: In a larger context, this chapter 7 is talking about how important it is to take criticism well. We shouldn't take criticism and be defensive or attack back -- we should take criticism with poise and grow from it.

Oh, the irony.

4. Jim Holt is a religious nutjob
His signs around my neck of the woods have the fish symbol on them. Two years ago, he ran for senator against Blanche Lincoln and lost rather handily. Let's hope history repeats itself.
