9. "ACTING!!" --Master Thespian
Being straight (so far as you know), I sometimes worry that it's wrong to use "fag" and "queer," even in an ironic context, even in the same spirit in which Blazing Saddles used the n-word. I have gay friends who don't mind, but they don't necessarily represent the concensus view. Anyhoo...thanks for the props.

2. I Recently saw the new Methodist Church PSA
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 02:00 PM by StephenB48
It showed a variety of parishioners coming into the church (such as unwed mothers, same sex couple, poor, black, etc), and as they sat down to pray, they were forcefully fired out of the building by ejection seats. Their message at the end was one of "non discrimination" where all were welcome. Don't know a lot about the Methodists,or how ac curate their message is, but it was a dramatic and thought provoking statement, nonetheless.
:hippie:  :hi:
PEACE
Oops! After seeing a post on the board just now, I realize that that was a PSA for the Church of Christ. Hard for an old man to trust his memory anymore. LOL. Either way, the spot was awesome!

4. there are many, many liberal/progressive christians.
those who know that the bible is about metaphor and allegory -- and who know that the bible is not inerrant.

it's christians who have turned the bible into an idol who ruining the faith.

7. "The whole world and all creatures will be to you nothing else but . . .
an open book and a living Bible, in which you may study, without any previous instruction, the science of God and from which you may learn his will." Sebastian Franck

"Our children need to learn not only how to read books composed by human genius but also the Great Book of the World. Reading the Great Book is natural to children. . . The universe is the primry revelation of the divine, the primary scripture, the primary locus of divine-human communion." Thomas Berry

11. Yes.
So, if you just HAVE to go to "church", you should go to all of them, a different one every week.

12. That would be fun
plus you wouldn't get stuck pledging to one of them! And you could skip the committees. I sometimes go to black churches with two friends so I can wear hats.
