5. Umm....and who are you, exactly?
To declare that I need schooling, and that I should care what you think is vile, and that I have some idea of what you are speaking of?

Besides some tool, who are you?

23. Sorry, dude. They don't.
I'm sure there are people who think John Kerry's position to be homophobic, but those people are stupid. Post all the links you want.

ALL minorities, Inland, not just the ones you think are "popular" enough for moderate turncoats to safely endorse.

17. OMG! I'm as bigoted as John Kerry!!!! This is HUGH1`11111
Really, is that it? For a second, I thought that somebody had something for me to be ashamed of. Because I couldn't think of any reason why anyone would crap on my thread, and on Dr. King, except for the two fundamentalist atheists I have on ignore.

Now I know there's nothing there, and that you are, in fact, precisely as I thought.

Thanks to you and your buds for taking something like bigotry and turning into a meaningless word for your snits. You should be ashamed.

27. Your bigotry is pretty damn obvious.
First you state that gay rights don't matter.

“tell me why their should be a single concession to homosexual unions if homosexuals are ten percent or less of the population. Go.”

Then you try to use gay rights as a tool to tell atheists that their rights don't matter.

“Whether it's the "right thing to do" has to take into account all the other "right things" you are throwing out the window.

After all, you are telling the homosexuals that their marriage issue, and the racial minorities on their issues, are just going to have to wait another twenty years.”

I didn't say gay rights don't matter.

Look, you posted the links. I read them. So can anyone else. I feel pretty good about my ability to read, at least.

Just wondering...

How it is that you feel so free in posting a link to an article with such a title? Interesting.

18. Did I say that?
I don't recall writing that you shouldn't be able to-- Why would you think that?

While we are on the subject, why do you use his words specifically? Was there a point you were trying to make that I densely overlooked?

22. While we are on the subject, why, then, did you ask?
I mean, you didn't say it, but I couldn't think of why my skin color became important to you.

If there was some other reason you find my race interesting, let me know. You didn't ask if I was a christian or from Stanford.

Hm.

I didn't use his words at all, by the way. I cited the article. I thought it was interesting. More interesting than your race, for example.

26. Since you bring it up...
Are you a Christian?

I ask your race because others here have accused you of bigotry. In assessing whether or not that was true, I thought it may be useful to know if you, yourself may be a minority? Was that out of line?

I was just trying to be fair...

29. That doesn't make a LOT of sense
but I'll just drop it. It's another long discussion. I would hate to think that my being part of a majority would be informative as to whether I am a bigot in some people's eyes.

As for whether I'm a Christian, I usually take the fifth because I find actual discussions of actual personal belief or lack thereof to be.....boring. Boring, and inconclusive. Even "what I am" is boring and inconclusive. If I wanted that discussion, I'd be on a different site. I like politics.

I do discuss the role of religion as a sociological thingy, and I don't think that MLK day can pass without a remark on teh role of religion in his philosophy. He based his politics on a two hundred year old declaration of independence and a two thousand year old book, and came up with something groundbreakingly new. THAT'S interesting. At least, I thought it was.

EDITED TO ADD: IBTL is used a lot in the lounge, where I like to hang out ...
