Any TBN Watchers?
For kicks, the wife and I occasionally tune into the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Trinity is the Christian TV empire founded by Paul Crouch and his wife Jan, whose hair resembles a bushel of lavender cotton candy. It's a freak show of the highest order: http://www.tbn.org

1. Paul and Jan Couch
Jan is an obvious drag queen. Clearly.

Then theres Paul. He wears billowing blouses.
I mean, it may signify nothing, and judging by appearences alone, may lead one to err.....but.....Jeez, is there a gayer looking human being on TV?

7. Some good tidbits there ...
for those seeking to engage in mindless gossip (not that that would be me, of course).

I'd like to add that, per the L.A. Times, Jan gets about $350,000 in salary also. NICE. Of course, the wigs may cost a tidy sum ...

2. the few times I've watched it was like a train wreck.
something so preposterous was going on I couldn't click the channel.

One example was back when Clinton was president and the Bosnian conflict was winding down, but there were all these displaced and starving refugees.

the "lavender cotton candy" woman (love your description) went to a camp there to help.

What did she pass out? food? clothing? a hug?

nope. cheap dolls or trucks with bible verses glued to them. I mean, wtf? is the kid going to eat the truck? I wish tivo was invented then, because the look on the faces of the undernourished kids was classic. hope in their eyes, she hands them something, the kid looks at it and this look of "what the hell is this?" then they look back at her, hopefully again, thinking maybe she has something else, but no, she's moving on to the next kid.

I remember thinking: ok, this kid got his parents blown up, he's hungry, living in squalor and this grotesque strange women, whose weekly makeup bill could have fed him for a year, hands him a truck with a verse written on it ... IN ENGLISH!. Talk about insult to injury.

9. it was seared in my psyche as the most preposterous "mission" I'd ever
seen a televangelist get involved in. I may have some details wrong, but I can remember how appalled and outraged I was.

10. I remember that as well
to funny so many people who don't usually watch TBN could remember that maybe it just played it alot. My grandmother was into TBN big time, she would send them money and they would send her some stupid little TBN nightlight or a little wooden goblet thing that you had communion in I guess I don't know.

Anyone ever watch ever watch any of the other shows, I've channel surfed and seen this platinum blond female preacher on there named Paula White that just cracks me up listening to her sing, if you closed your eyes you would think she was an African American woman singing and preaching not some stepford wife.

4. I'll tune in occasionally and turn the volume off
All that gold furniture........
His prissy silk shirts........
Her hair. This is what I really turn in for. To see if it's going to be pink, purple or the blue shade. Ever hear her tell the chicken story? I never knew chicken was pronounced cheeeken.

6. Yeah .. I have to admit to watching a few minutes every now and
again ... to laugh at Her Royal Purpleness.

Now, answer me a question: lately, when I surf over there (usually while sitting with Beloved Daughter while she goes to sleep), I haven't seen Paul and Jan lately (it is usually around after 9 at night). Sometimes I see the one Crouch kid with HIS highlighted-hair, false-eyelashes-galore wife, but not the great Jan.

I have been told by those in the know to observe that Paul and Jan are rarely physically in the same place - supposedly they do not like to be. And, rumor has it that we don't have to worry about Paul fooling around with other FEMALES.

Scoop?

11. Bring a barf bag.
A church I belonged to years ago had pastoral staff that got increasingly into TBN freaks, especially that wretched fraud Benn Hinn. It was truly scary...and I was the music leader. It came to a head one Sunday when the pastor inveighed heavily against those who questioned the legitimacy of TBN teachers. Needless to say I blew that popstand.
