Accra — A new chapter is being opened in Ghana's political history with the country's politicians trying to use religion to win votes.

President John Atta Mills has made a name for himself as a religious person and has often used every opportunity to portray this. Now, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is seeking to brand itself in a similar way.

The attempt comes just days after a local poll suggested that a majority of the Christian community in Ghana supports the NPP.

Based on this, the party has decided to attract even more Christians, giving the indication that next year's election is going to be a fight to win the hearts and minds of Christians.
