I'm glad these aren't REAL Xians...
As reported in the LBN post below: after the communications director of American Atheists appeared on Fox News late last month, the Fox Facebook page was deluged with thousands of comments from Concerned Xians...including about 8,000 death threats.

Fox shut down the page, but not before an alert atheist grabbed some screen caps so we could all enjoy the warmth of that Xian love:

i say kill them all and let them see for themselves that there is God

To ALL ATHEIEST DIE AN GO TO HELL HAHA IF I COULD ID SHOOT ALL OF YOU IN THE HEAD WITH A 12GUAGE

Shoot em. At least we know where they’re going, waste of oxygen

I thinly we should hang the leader of that group on the cross with nails through their hands and feet, place a crown of thorns upon their head, RAM a spear through their side all after being whipped and beaten publicly! Just so they can endure what Christ dod so they understand the sacrifice behind what that cross symbolizes.

They’re atheists so it won’t matter if you kill them.

someone show me where they live&and they will live no mere!

I love Jesus, and the cross and if you dont, I hope someone rapes you! - Sindy Clock

Any court or lawyer who takes this case should be hung!!!! If you look at some of the people who are atheists they are all miserable looking because they don’t have any faith in anything. You should all go live in another country. You have taken enough of my rights away. - Eileen Rourke

1. So many lost souls
It is a shame that churches are more interested in collecting money instead of souls
When was the last time a true minister walked among the people and told the truth of the faith
instead of talking from a pulpit in a 100 million dollar church??

2. You mistake the message you like as "the truth of the faith."
There is clearly no such thing.

3. The Bible talks of one
Unless there is infinite ways to walk with god

These people are just lost in the wilderness and
someone needs to save them from eternal damnation
before Satan grabs their souls and rips it from them

5. Right.
No true Scotsman, er, Christian, would say any of those things. Therefore, the people who did aren't true Christians. Right. Got it.

9. If you go by the comments, it seems that these "christians" are actually worshiping
their own Great Deceiver. Their god rewards them, well the really 'good' ones anyway, with material riches; really? Their god encourages hatred and violence; really?

My 'born again' sister actually called Jesus a loser a few years ago. Why be a "Christian" if you don't follow his tenets?

I just don't get it. When I believed I had to be a Christian, I tried very hard to follow Christ's teachings. When I stopped being a Christian, I lived the same way.

Christian on the planet, they just emphasize different verses in the Bible.

Christians, both liberal and conservative, violent and peaceful, need to understand that their religion supports all of this, that none of them have a right to judge who is or is not a good Christian. Because the implication is that non-Christians are less moral, or are expected to behave worse than Christians.

12. They believe their deity will reward them for destroying the people it hates.
Fortunately, it turns out their deity hates the exact same people they do. Convenient!

18. In fairness one can't blame all Christians for the actions of 8000 Fox viewers
and trying to lay the blame for these morons on all Christians is morally wrong.
I wouldn't be able to say whether the people you are quoting are real Christians or not but trying to make people who self describe themselves as Christians responsible for the actions of fox viewers is a new low.

I really hope that you aren't insinuating that.

19. No one's trying to blame all Christians.
I've noticed that with some regularity, posts about the actions of individual Christians get taken as a post about the actions of all Christians. I can't think of anywhere else that "look at what this person did" gets taken as "this is what everyone does."

I'm glad to hear it since it didn't make sense to blame all for the idiocy of Fox news minions.

The story is frightening and distressing. So much hate lives inside these people that it boggles my mind.

23. I'm sure that would be my first instinct if a group of loons were
doing crazy stuff that put my favorite issue front and center. I wouldn't want others to think that all of us act lke that. Fortunately the people who post here are compassinate and smart and I trust that they wouldn't dream of blaming me for something I clearly wasn't involved in so it's all good.

25. So your first instinct is to disclaim them from your religion?
Rather than just saying not all people of your group act that way. Isn't it enough to say you disagree with someone and not try to read their minds and judge whether they are a "true Christian".

Hi, Lauren :hi:

I was sincerely hoping this wasn't the case but the final sentence gave me pause.

I think H-A posted the same response I would have: whenever these types of quotes are posted in R/T, we always get "minimizing, blame-shifting and denial." Along with lots and lots of Non-Real Male Residents Of The Northern U.K.

Or did I miss something in your question?

Some of our R/T regulars even do deep forensic research - via Google - to try and prove that somebody got a few facts wrong so we should ignore the whole thing, or it was a long time ago so it doesn't matter, or it's just those damn Gnu Atheists stirring up trouble again, etc. etc.

I'm also a big fan of the site "Fundies Say The Darnedest Things" or FSTDT for short.

Those people make the Fox Facebook theologians look like a bunch of Oxford dons:

http://www.fstdt.com/QuoteArchives.aspx?Archive=1

A few recent examples for your entertainment. Just for variety, I'll start off with an Islamic viewpoint:

1. why does islam is spreading so fast in last 3 decades? the reason islam is spreading so fast in last 3 decades is because of sextual immorality wide spread in christians's society like premarital sex, infidelity, homosextualty, porn etc. because of woman nudity everywhere man lost respect for women and because of man dont respect women so women dont respect men. so man and mostly women joining islam for new lifestyle. this new converts to islam really are refugies of christian's immoral culture taking shelter in islam.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled Xians:

Why isn't the Vatican denouncing Harry Potter books? Same reason they didn't have the guts to denounce Hilter...

How can you say "The Bible writers were wrong" but "the scientific writers are right?" Were both not written by humans?

If science is just a conspiracy by the Illuminati, then science can not be relied upon.

If I told an atheist, "prove to me the sun is 93 million miles away from the Earth without consulting a scientific textbook" you wouldn't be able to do it.

I find it very unfair that atheists can cite scientific books as evidence but I can't cite the Bible as evidence.

**********************************************************************************************************************************************

This one may be a Poe - the spelling and punctuation are suspiciously good:

At the end of American President Palin's 1st term in 2012, Christian American traditional values will no longer be whispered in secret at the White House and in Washington,D.C. (They will be shouted "Loud & Proud" from rooftops all across our Christian American Nation!)

There will no longer be any room for any forms of democracy, pluralism, or tolerance, of people who differ from us, in our country. The religious and political liberty of the enemies of God in this country will finally be denied.

Restoration of our Christian nation and traditional American values will be complete.

America, along with the rest of the world, will be governed by conservative Christians and a conservative Christian interpretation of biblical law.

This one-liner was posted by Bishop Dr. P. Bradley Carey, Institute for Christian Works: RAPE AND INCEST ARE NOT JUSTIFIABLE REASONS FOR ABORTION.

Oh...and just in case you were wondering, Gabrielle Giffords may be the Anti-Christ (AC). Glad somebody cleared that up: Today on the House floor, Gabriella Gifford was shown for the first time back in action since her "near fatal wound" to the head she received. What makes this so interesting, is that this could happen to any other politician and seem like common ground (since it won't be the first time) when the AC rules.

Again, I'm not making accusations or speculating as to "who" the AC is, just thought it was interesting that the politicians were praising and flocking near her after she suffered throughout this ordeal. It really makes me take notice as to the rapid pace this world is heading to it's demise.
