Catholic bishop says Brazilian rape victims lie about rape to get a legal abortion. And more.
X-posted from GD.

I don't have an English link. The fuckwad's name is Luiz Gonzaga Bergonzini and he's the bishop of Guarulhos, a suburb of São Paulo.

He also says that rape is "very difficult without the consent of the woman".

To "illustrate" the concept to women that come to him and say they've been raped, he gives her a ballpoint pen, retains the cap in his hand, and tells her, now put the pen in the cap. As she tries to do that, he starts moving his hand around, and says, "See?"

If someone has an English link, please share. Portuguese: http://www.ihu.unisinos.br/index.php?option=com_noticias&Itemid=18&task=detalhe&id=44253

Clarification: in Brazil abortion is only legal in cases of rape (statutory or not), incest, and threat to the mother's health.

OH, and the "good" bishop has a history of campaigning heavily against the left, Lula and Rouseff in particular.

1. The Catholic hierarchy should be prosecuted for organized crime.
One of the most immoral bunches in power anywhere.

5. Is this the same rat bag who...
announced that the mother of an 11 year old rape victim (maybe she was 10) would go to Hell because she arranged for her child to have an abortion? I believe he included the doctor who performed the operation in his bound-for-Hell list, too. I hope he is the same one, because I hate to think of there being more than one of these ---- (insert favorite filthy expletive here)
in the Brazilian hierarchy. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

6. when i was a kid my young methodist minister toured south america
when he came back he gave a sermon and he blasted the catholic church for not doing anything but burning incense to help the poor in these countries. i still have the image in my head when he said that some 55 years ago.

funny thing is he died several years ago at the age of 90 so i guess god gave him a long life to spread his word to help the poor and downtrodden.

On June 22, watch the "Forbidden Love" episode of Locked Up Abroad on the NatGeo channel. (Or you can catch it on Hulu etc.)

Filiino woman splits with her abusive husband. They don't bother divorcing - that costs a lot of money, since it requires an official annulment from the Catholic Church. She meets a nice British guy online. After a holiday together in the Philippines, she's pregnant.

Ex-hubby asks the Brit for $10,000, is refused. Then the ex uses the adultery laws to threaten both of them with 14 years in prison. And under those same laws, the unborn baby is legally the property of the ex-husband. (Who, BTW, is living with another woman. But that doesn't seem to be illegal.)

A horrible, heart-breaking story.

10. "Conspiração da Unesco transformará metade do mundo em homossexuais?".

I can answer that important question. No.

(will a UN conspiracy transform half the world into homosexuals?)

12. Can't find a link on this latest, but this is from the Catholic News Agency at the time of the
election.

http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/church-in-brazil-voices-support-for-bishop-who-received-death-threats/

Needless to say, people should not have threatened him, whatever his views - but he sounds like a thoroughly evil person.

Here is the British Pro-Life Alliance comment on the Brazilian election:

Yup, the economy is unimportant compared with allowing women reproductive rights. Ugh. Poverty is a threat to life!

Since Brazil moved to democracy and the left, they're obviously all baby-killers:
