Christians Back TV Device to Censor Religious Slurs, Profanity
What if there was a mute button for every single objectionable word mentioned on television?

For parents everywhere, there may finally be an answer.

Focus on the Family is teaming up with TVGuardian to provide clean entertainment choices for families through the TVGuardian filter, a device that eliminates objectionable language from television shows.

Penned as a “foul language filter” for HDTV’s, the device seeks to protect children not only from all foul language, but also from offensive religious slurs, sexual references, and other inappropriate phrases.

3. Just put "Dutch" in front of an innocuous word and it'll make it dirty.
As in, "I gave my girlfriend a Dutch blindfold."

See?

7. Sounds a bit Big-Brotherly
The next step would be a filter for scientific facts and anything gay.

How about a device that filters out religious indoctrination, blind faith and holy-rolling mythology?

Oh no, we cannot do that. That would be a dismissal of faith and persecution.

Do I really NEED a sarcasm thingy?

10. A device that would censor "Leave It To Beaver" episodes, in other words...
...You think all of those "Gosh" and "Gee"'s would make it? No. Because those are, as I was told once, "taking the Lord's name in vain". Since they're just another way of saying God and Jesus followed by a slur. :eyes:

11. How about they just get rid of the TV and stick with Veggie Tales videos?
Or they could watch shows that are not objectionable and whose goal is to educate--but those are mostly on NPR, which they want to defund.

Or they could just form their own colony on some remote island, totally off the grid.

Or better yet, they could just shut the **** up and leave the rest of us alone.

Geez!

13. Talking vegetables? Of course!
Fits right in with the snake and donkey. If they were still around they'd probably have their own talk shows. On Fox.

12. Oh, good.
Why don't they just get one of those gag-ball-and-blinders things from the kinkysex place? Or better yet, one of the devices in the movie "Tommy."

SIlly me, this type of "Christian" probably has at least one of everything from the kinkysex shop.

14. As usual, these Americans are WAY behind
The North Koreans have had this technology for decades: one station, all Kim, all the time. I believe the device that eliminates objectionable language is a firing squad.

15. Fuck Yeah!
If this becomes widespread we can finally say the F Word on television! No more soccermoms censoring OUR television so the innocent kiddos won't be "scarred".

Never gonna happen, but I can dream.

17. Good idea.
If this is an individually purchased device, used in the home of the purchaser for their own TV, it's a great idea and I hope the inventor makes a mint on it.

If this were to become "standard equipment," legally imposed on all TVs sold, I'd have some serious problems with it.

18. the technology already exists ...
it's called the "off" button ...

Jeez, you would think that they'd promote literacy ... since they only believe what they "read" in the Bible ... (and if Catholics now are only going to be hearing the "Latin" version, then maybe they can just make up what they think they hear ...)
