Cain and Abel story: Will Conservatives ever listen?

Will Conservatives choose the peaceful words of God? Those words were not said in anger but in love.

As was the case with the Oklahoma City bombing, we've reached another point where officials in the Conservative movement can make a clear choice just as Cain was given a clear choice. Bill Clinton warned of the dangers of hate radio after OKC but Conservatives knew better than a Rhodes scholar and made the clear choice to ignore wisdom. More violence would follow. Now after the Arizona assassination, the world is crying out for Conservatives to STOP their hateful and violent rhetoric. Stop before it's too late. If this violence snowballs, all America will suffer. It's your choice, Conservatives. Just stop.

And look how hate radio has metastasized since then.

The question now is whether our Democratic "leadership" is willing to stand up to the GOP hate-fest this time.

All evidence, alas, would suggest "no."

2. No. They will never listen. They will never stop.

Today's conservatives are completely immune to the type of argument you are making, or any other argument. They exist in an impenetrable bubble of imaginary, incendiary "facts" that lead to continuous, murderous rage.

Nothing can get through to these people. When you prove them wrong, they double down and believe the false information more strongly than they did before. (Here's the research on this, although in this particular article it isn't until page 3 that we learn that this effect happened with conservatives, but not with liberals.)

Recent medical research reveals that conservatives' brains have an over-developed emotional center and an under-developed reasoning center, defects that are made evident in the behavior we have observed to our dismay.

I remember that research about how even when they were told the facts, they stuck to their false information. Likewise, Cain did not follow the very good advice, from God, that he was given. I guess if God can't get them to stop, we can't either. Things won't be getting better.

4. I have seen signs of progress in those close to me

specifically, very conservative people becoming accepting of homosexuality and the need to care for the earth. Looking around on a national level its very easy to get discouraged but just keep chipping away at those you can DIRECTLY touch and progress can happen. Dont give up!
