5. If Buddhists claim that to live is to suffer, then life itself plays the role of hell in Buddhism.

7. I'm no expert...
but it does seem to me that Buddhism does not preach that life is ONLY to suffer.

3. All the molecules in my body would be dispersed, and become
part of many other things. Now, that's immortality. But wait...that's what happens, so I don't have to design it.

6. If it were my reality there wouldn't be a need for anything after this life.
This life should be enough for any mature intellect.

9. In your reality, would people see colors, or just black and white?
If people would see colors, then would there be rainbows and peacock tails? They seem somewhat frivolous.

11. Whaddaya mean, "after"?
In my ideal reality, in my advanced old age I'd get my brain transplanted into a robotic body and live forever. :P

18. Why not just go for a nano-medical check-up every five years ...
Edited on Sat Sep-18-10 07:46 PM by Boojatta
with nano-treatments as prescribed ... to extend your life indefinitely?

Of course, "indefinite" wouldn't necessarily mean "forever" because there would still be traffic accidents, attacks by violent criminals, terrorist attacks, shark attacks, etc. Perhaps your robo-cop style scenario is safer after all. I hope that the robot body parts will be produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.

19. There's actually a really good book
about nanotechnology called The First Immortal by James Halperin that talks about using nanotechnology as a means of life extension. It's science fiction, but according to Halperin he did quite a bit of research to make sure it was as accurate as possible. It's been awhile since I've read it, but it's really good.

16. My ignore list includes about 50 DU members.
However, when I go to a thread with a title that interests me, a very high percentage of the replies in the given thread, often 100%, are visible to me.

17. Actually, that correlation sounds about right.
Obnoxious people are usually neither interesting nor interested. Ergo, they're not in those threads.
