Dr. sets out to test ID by studying NASCAR drivers
No, this isn't from The Onion:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/28/AR2005082800964.html

Jeffrey M. Schwartz, a neuroscientist and research professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, is a believer in ID, or as he prefers to call it, "intrinsic intelligence." Schwartz wants to launch a study of NASCAR drivers, to better understand their extraordinary focus. He finds Darwinism, as it applies to a high-performance athlete such as Tony Stewart, to be problematic. To claim that Stewart's mental state as he handles a high-speed car "is a result of nothing more than random processes coming together in a machine-like way is not a coherent explanation," Schwartz said.

1. I can't believe a prestigious university like UCLA would allow their
dollars to be wasted on shuch drivel.

And, this is coming from a USC grad!

6. I'm sure it's a grant from some fudie front group. Universities don't fund
studies.

8. And the Prof. only says he "wants to study" NASCAR drivers....
"Schwartz wants to launch a study of NASCAR drivers.." So I guess it's a grant proposal, though some fundie group will probably agree to fund it...Man, I wish I could get a grant to "study" NBA Basketball, I could save a lot of money on season tickets..

2. Hmmmm.
Nascar drivers didn't evolve...not so hard to believe, considering most of their fans still have their knuckles dragging on the ground behind them when they go to get more beer.

4. Perhaps they'll look at the drivers - then at some of the fans
and declare the latter to be one of the "missing links".

3. And for another not coherent explanation, Dr. Asshat...
Try "nothing more than random processes coming together in a machine-like way" as a description of evolution.

7. hmmmm, the columnist who wrote the piece is an idiot too.......
"First, let's get rid of the idea that ID (intelligent design) is a form of sly creationism. It isn't. ID is unfairly confused with the movement to teach creationism in public schools".

What a moron. ID's ONLY purpose is to get the fudie foot in the door of schools.
