3. I did not know LDS did that. Around here it is the Jehovah's Witnesses
who knock on your door and try to sell you their beliefs.

20. I got two LDS brats at my door. In Rio. And they race-baited me.
They pushed that "black race are descendants of Cain and the black skin is God's curse" bullshit that's supposed (ha!) to have been excluded from doctrine decades ago.

This was circa 2003.

7. How To Tell - Witnesses vs LDS
In Texas there are many more LDSers than Jehovah's Witnesses. But, it's usually easy to tell the difference. LDS is almost always white young men on their mission. They ride bikes and wear short sleeved white shirts and a tie. Witnesses come in all colors and often bring their entire family to the door including young kids that beg you to take a copy of Watchtower.

I've had neighbors of both cults over the years. I feel sad for members of both, but feel even worse for the Witness kids who can't go to birthday parties of neighborhood kids and get no gifts at Christmas. That's just wrong.

9. I used to work with a nice lady that was a mormon
She was the sweetest lady. One day, a bunch of folks were joking around about "hiding and acting like your not at home" when the Jehovah's witnesses come around to your neighborhood. My morman friend said "Oh I don't know, I like it when they come around. I invite them in and say let's sit down and talk...would you like some lemonaid?" I've never laughed so hard in my life.

15. get them both--although not so much after declaring I am a witch.
on monday, I ran into a couple of the boys --in their little white shirts, with HUGE name badges identifying them as elders--all of 18, if that. "you are joking, right? ELDERS??? my cats are older than you are". funny, they left in a hurry.

8. Very clever.
My ex and I stopped into a cafe in Richmond Utah one Sunday morning. We asked for a cup of coffee. The waitress said " I'll have to brew some if you don't mind waiting." When the Coffee arrived, we both reached for a cigarette as we were telling her how we were thinking of moving into the area. She was very polite as she told us "I don't think you will be happy here, and please don't smoke, nobody in town does."

We didn't stay for Breakfast.

13. I don't get any missionaries at my house anymore
I wonder why? Do you think it could be because I told the JW's that I worshiped Thor and Odin and believed in human sacrifice?

14. What would happen if the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses
showed up at your door at the same time? Would they reach critical mass of lunatics and explode? Or would they just kick the shit out of each other?

18. the Witnesses used to come by my apartment
I'd invite them in, and we'd have a fun time debating finer points of theology.

I noticed that it was always the same older guy, with a different younger one every week. This went on several weeks, then we moved.

A few years later, I moved back, got a job at a warehouse, and the elder of the Witnesses was one of my coworkers. He remembered me, and I asked him what the deal was (this was all in a very friendly manner).

Turns out, I was the test run. If the new missionaries could survive a run-in with me, they got to go out on their own. They didn't have to win, just not crash and burn.

So this atheist is truly doing god's work, apparently.

21. Mine was a little old lady
She would hand out tracts. And well... She was really old and polite so I usually just take a pamphlet and listen to her for a bit. I don't know where many people get these arguable mean spirited people from that people complain about. The ones I've encountered have always been really humble and polite. I've always just felt bad for her, 80 years old and going out into the rain or snow knocking on doors and offering a pamphet.

I'm slightly worried though, I haven't seen her in awhile and am hoping nothing happened to her. Some of the places out in the rural areas can be pretty nasty. Quite a few are meth houses, and the people that own them... They're just scum.

I'd have to say though, I'm usually annoyed by younger people that preach anything. Whether it's some xtian thing, atheist, muslim, etc. I don't like people coming to my door early in the morning.

22. The response at the end alone
...With the guy saying it was "inappropriate" made the whole experiment worthwhile.

I wonder what is the success rate of the door-to-door missions? Something close to email SPAM? It surely feels like receiving SPAM but at your door.
