Poll question: Would becoming convinced that Jerry Lee Lewis got his music from an angel raise your opinion of him?

Note: by "his music", I mean both the instrumental parts that he is today given credit for composing and the lyrics that he is today given credit for writing.

1. Other, only if the angel also hooked him up with that 13 year-old
second cousin. These days he'd still be in prison for that.

8. People did that in the South all the time
It's just that Jerry Lee Lewis was famous. Plus, her parents gave their consent, so the law really couldn't touch him.

I'm not saying I think he did the right thing, but consider the culture he came from.

2. Yes if the angel was Bill Haily and the Comets.

A lot of rock and roll was inspired by them....but a lot of the really good stuff came from the Memphis blues.

3. Did the angel offer an opinion on him marrying his 13yo cousin?
Or was he a live-and-let-live kinda guy?

11. Maybe his cousin-wife had some
condemnatory words about the angel. We can't know.

7. it`s a real toss up between jerry and jimmy on their music and such
jimmy has the best white gospel band and choir going today.jerry is one of the founders of rock`n roll and a great showman.

i`ll give the edge to jerry cause i like his music better and i have seen him in person.

9. Jerry Lee Lewis is one of the R&R greats
He's a true stylist, and the first real "bad boy" of rock and roll.

Nearly all the artists of that era were fantastic, but the conservaturds of those days pissed and moaned until all that was left was pabulum like Pat Boone and The Beatles, all these guys dressed up in suits to be parent-approved for television.

Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc....there were so many artists of that era who were so new and cutting-edge, that parents everywhere were soiling their undies.

12. He's a hell of an interesting guy but IMO he's not much of a
musician.
