when the IRS yanks their tax-free status over their involvement, financial and otherwise, in Prop 8.

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recognizes the deeply held feelings on both sides, but strongly affirms its belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman. The bedrock institution of marriage between a man and a woman has profound implications for our society."

And yet, strangely, they used to believe that this "bedrock institution" should be between a man, a woman, and several other women - until this became politically inconvenient to them. Funny how those eternal principles change to suit the times, isn't it?
