"Singapore warns against mixing politics and religion"
<snip>

Singapore's parliament in 2007 legalised oral and anal sex between heterosexual couples, which had been banned under a law dating back to British colonial days, but retained a section that criminalises sex between men.

Wong said the government was worried about the controversy which erupted after a group of conservative Christians engineered a leadership change in Singapore's biggest women's organisation, AWARE.

The Christian group was opposed to what they said was AWARE's bias for greater homosexual rights, but AWARE's former leaders mounted a counter-attack that allowed them to recapture power after a war of words in the media.

...sounds familiar, Joe...

1. Is it just me
or does it seem that political hardball, backbiting, backstabbing, and power mongering begins within the religious organization itself and then spreads throughout the body politic like a virus from a factory farm?

2. I think so.
Check out a term: 'steeplejacking'.

A viral sect (they act like one according to evidence) gets into a postition of leadership within a church. They sell all their minions their revised version of non-christianity who then go act it out, then eventually you have a much larger phenomenon.

Also Bruce Wilson of Talk2action (aka troutfishing @ dailykos) has numerous postings about dominionism and it's role in 'steeplejacking'.

Eye-opening and very scary.
