Vatican ofcl: rediscovery of Eucharist needed to counter satanic sacrilege
Vatican official says rediscovery of Eucharist needed to counter satanic sacrilege

Rome, May. 09, 2005 (CNA) - The Secretary for the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino, says a rediscovery of the Eucharist is needed as an answer to the spread of satanic practices. “The Church is concerned” about sacrileges and profanations committed against the Eucharist by satanic cults during so-called “black masses.”

During a convention on Eucharistic miracles taking place in Rome, Archbishop Sorrentino said, “The increasing occurrence of these rituals, which often conclude with true crimes or the torture of recruits, is alarming.”

2. So.... how is that going to work?
Observation of the Eucharist will create some kind of holy force-field, that expands and drives the presence of Satan out of the bodies of these devil-worshipers?

16. My take
is that if you focus completly on the Eucharist, it will bring you to a "perfect union" with the church and you will reject anything that the church does not approve of from above.

Basically the Middle Ages style of religion.

3. The real thing going on
in Abu Ghraib and Gitmo, but all these fussy drag queens want to do is fantasize about some non-existent nether world of "satanic rituals".

11. Hey, the church has its priorities.
And don't you dare question them, or some might label you a "Catholic basher."

12. 'Legionaries of Christ' - trying to divert attention from themselves?
An additional cover-up charge appeared in the Independent. According to Peter Popham, “Pope Benedict XVI has been accused of ignoring for seven years charges facing Fr Marcial Maciel, the founder of the Legionaries of Christ (an ultra conservative organization founded in Mexico in 1941) because Fr Maciel was a close friend of Pope John Paul II.”

In 1997, Ratzinger led the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, set up by the Vatican to excommunicate sexually abusive priests. Popham reported that Bishop John R McCann of New York forwarded Ratzinger “detailed charges of sexual abuse made by Fr Juan Vaca, a priest in Bishop McCann's diocese.”

In an open letter to Marcial, Vaca wrote that "Everything you did contradicts the beliefs of the Church and the order." Vaca cited “innumerable times” that Marciel would “wake me in the middle of the night …abusing my innocence. Nights of fear, so many nights of absolute fear: so many nights of lost sleep…placed my own psychological health in jeopardy." (Independent, April 23, 2005)

Vaca and eight other former Legionaries of Christ accused Maciel of sexually abusing them in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Cardinal Ratzinger took no action. He focused on the overriding issue of defeating the "dictatorship of relativism." The Church, he insisted, must use political power and manipulation to have its absolute “truth and values” prevail. (Sam Smith Progressive Review April 24)

There is a need to fight "satanic rituals'. We can fight them by participating more in the symbolic cannibalism of eating the bread and wine that represent( and some say ARE) the body and blood of Christ. Am I missing something?

9. My cop friends used to tell me that Satanist don't engage in ..
ritualistic torture ... and that's what I've read (I was a social worker for years).

What you have when you find out a group of people are engaging in ritualistic torture is ... a group of antisocials or sociopaths.

I would agree.

Thoughts or info, anyone?

Also, what the heck is the Eucharist?

10. Anyone practicing 'Black Masses' is a Christian of some form.
No one outside Christianity would bother with such rituals. I see all the so-called Satanists as inverse Christians, who have an axe to grind with organized Christianity. Most other religions don't even have a Satan, so why would they bother with such rituals? I know that as Wiccan/Buddhist/Divine Mother sort of person, I do not have any belief in a devil, so I would not bother with such a ritual. It would make no sense to me at all.

As an interesting aside, when I was being interviewed by the gov't for something, I was asked if I sacrificed animals as part of my religion. I said, I can hardly bear to swat a mosquito, how could I possibly sacrifice an animal? I am sure their next question would have been related to sacrificing children....

Some Christians have odd beliefs about other religions, but fail to see that the stuff they attribute to those religions is really inside their own religion. Most of this stuff is fear based from within themselves, fear that they somehow have the Devil inside them or something like that, fear of their hell, and also, a secret desire to rebel, so they imagine a lot of things that never happen. Unfortunately, sometimes they make other people pay the price, as in the Burning Times.

13. I agree, Hecate77.
My faith also does not have a 'Satan.' I belong to Church of Religious Science (www.rsintl.org).

Besides, most faiths, including Wicca, talk about the significant consequences of even being unkind to someone.

It is always very amusing to me when I am told that I am in a cult - I'm not the one who is unkind to others, or who is being told what to think, who to hang around with, and what to read.

“The increasing occurrence of these rituals, which often conclude with true crimes or the torture of recruits, is alarming.”

I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition....
